Electrical Engineering Intern Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a electrical engineering intern in Louisiana?
The most direct path is enrollment in an ABET-accredited electrical engineering program at a Louisiana university such as LSU, Tulane, or UL Lafayette, which are recognized feeders for the state's energy and industrial employers. Louisiana does not require interns to hold a Professional Engineer license, but students who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam administered by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board gain a competitive edge with employers.
Which companies hire electrical engineering interns in Louisiana?
Louisiana electrical engineering intern roles are posted by CVS Health, Walgreens, and Republic Finance and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's concentration of energy, refining, and utilities companies means many of these programs are structured around industrial and power systems projects rather than office-based engineering work.
Which Louisiana cities have the most electrical engineering intern jobs?
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lafayette account for the largest share of electrical engineering intern openings in Louisiana. Baton Rouge leads because of its dense cluster of petrochemical plants and Entergy's regional operations, New Orleans draws interns through utilities and port infrastructure projects, and Lake Charles supports intern demand tied to its active LNG and refining facilities.
Are there remote electrical engineering intern jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. About 20% of electrical engineering intern openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves on-site fieldwork, equipment testing, and plant operations that cannot be done remotely. The portions most likely to carry a hybrid option are documentation, CAD drafting, and data analysis tasks within larger intern rotations.
How can I get hired as a electrical engineering intern in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured intern rotations that Louisiana's large industrial employers run specifically for students with no professional experience. Entergy, Dow Chemical's Louisiana sites, and major EPC firms regularly accept rising juniors and seniors through university-partnership programs tied to LSU and UL Lafayette. Completing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam early and building a project portfolio from coursework in power systems or controls gives candidates a measurable edge over applicants with equivalent academics.
Where can I find and apply to electrical engineering intern jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to electrical engineering intern jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
