Product Development Intern Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product development intern in Louisiana?
Most product development intern roles in Louisiana require current enrollment in a four-year degree program in chemical engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, business, or a related field at a Louisiana university such as LSU, Tulane, or University of Louisiana Lafayette. No state-issued license is required for intern-level work, but completing relevant lab coursework, joining a product innovation club, and connecting with Louisiana's manufacturing or energy sector employers through on-campus recruiting gives candidates a clear advantage.
Which companies hire product development interns in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring product development interns in Louisiana include CVS Health, Walgreens, and Republic Finance, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's concentration of petrochemical, food processing, and healthcare companies means intern programs here often focus on formulation, process scale-up, or clinical product development rather than software-only tracks.
Which Louisiana cities have the most product development intern jobs?
The cities with the most product development intern openings in Louisiana are Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport. Baton Rouge anchors the market through its dense industrial corridor of refineries and chemical plants, New Orleans draws openings from its healthcare systems and consumer goods presence, and Lafayette benefits from energy sector employers that run structured internship pipelines tied to nearby university partnerships.
Are there remote product development intern jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Product development intern work in Louisiana is largely hands-on, involving lab work, prototype evaluation, and on-site collaboration with manufacturing teams, which limits full remote availability. About 22% of product development intern openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with those flexible arrangements most common in roles focused on market research, competitive analysis, or product documentation rather than physical development work.
How can I get hired as a product development intern in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured summer internship programs at Louisiana's major manufacturers and healthcare systems, which are designed for students with coursework but no professional experience. ExxonMobil, Dow, and Ochsner Health run programs in Baton Rouge and New Orleans that accept first- and second-year applicants. Lateral entry from academic lab assistant, quality control technician, or research assistant roles at Louisiana universities is also common. A completed technical project, even from a class, strengthens any application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to product development intern jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to product development intern jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your location, field of study, and availability, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
