Information Security Intern Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a information security intern in Louisiana?
The most direct path is enrollment in a cybersecurity or computer science program at a Louisiana university such as LSU, Tulane, or the University of New Orleans, which maintain active relationships with state agencies and private employers. Louisiana does not require a state-issued license to work as an information security intern, but earning a vendor-neutral certification such as CompTIA Security+ significantly strengthens your candidacy with Louisiana employers before graduation.
Which companies hire information security interns in Louisiana?
Louisiana information security intern roles are posted by Woman's Hospital, City of New Orleans, and North Oaks Health System and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's energy sector, state government agencies, and regional financial institutions are among the most consistent sources of information security intern openings in the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most information security intern jobs?
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lake Charles have the most information security intern openings in Louisiana. New Orleans drives the largest share through its financial services, healthcare, and hospitality technology sectors, while Baton Rouge's concentration of state government offices and petrochemical companies generates consistent public and private sector openings, and Shreveport contributes through its healthcare systems and regional banking presence.
Are there remote information security intern jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and they are more common than in many technical fields, since much of an information security intern's work involves analysis, monitoring, and documentation rather than on-site hardware. About 0% of information security intern openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in cybersecurity roles. Threat monitoring, compliance review, and security reporting tasks are the functions most frequently performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a information security intern in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through university internship programs at LSU's Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship and Information Systems or the University of New Orleans, both of which connect students directly with Louisiana state agencies and energy-sector employers. Louisiana's Office of Technology Services runs student intern placements for those with minimal hands-on experience, and adjacent roles in IT help desk or network support at regional employers provide a credible bridge. A completed CompTIA Security+ certification or a documented home lab portfolio gives candidates a measurable edge over other applicants with no professional history.
Where can I find and apply to information security intern jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to information security intern jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly.
