Embedded Jobs in Sunnyvale: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a embedded job in Sunnyvale?
The strongest path into Sunnyvale's embedded market runs through its semiconductor and systems-on-chip companies, defense contractors near Moffett Field, and consumer electronics firms in the Lawrence Expressway corridor. Candidates with hands-on firmware or RTOS experience stand out, and familiarity with the toolchains common in hardware-centric shops gives a real edge over applicants coming purely from software backgrounds.
Which companies hire embeddeds in Sunnyvale?
Companies currently hiring embeddeds in Sunnyvale include Intuitive (Intuitive Surgical), Amazon, and Google, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Sunnyvale's employer mix skews toward chip designers, networking hardware firms, and aerospace and defense primes with engineering campuses in the city.
Are there remote embedded jobs in Sunnyvale?
Yes, though embedded work is less remote-friendly than pure software roles because hardware bring-up, lab access, and on-chip debugging often require physical presence. About 21% of embedded openings tied to Sunnyvale are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at larger semiconductor and networking firms in the Moffett Park area.
How can I get a embedded job in Sunnyvale with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Sunnyvale is through associate firmware or junior embedded software roles at mid-size chip and IoT companies, many of which hire new engineers and offer structured onboarding with senior staff. Internship pipelines at Sunnyvale's consumer electronics and networking hardware firms also convert to full-time offers regularly, and contract-to-hire positions at local defense subcontractors are another common door-opener for candidates building their first embedded portfolio.
Which industries hire the most embeddeds in Sunnyvale?
The sectors hiring the most embeddeds in Sunnyvale are Technology & Software, Retail, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Sunnyvale's dense concentration of semiconductor fabs, networking hardware developers, and aerospace primes makes it one of the highest-volume embedded hiring markets in the country.
