Entry Level EMT Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level emt job?
Start by earning your state EMT certification and completing your required clinical hours, since most entry level postings list these as minimum requirements. Volunteer experience with a local fire department, ambulance service, or community organization strengthens your application considerably at this stage. Highlighting any ride-along hours, CPR instructor credentials, or emergency dispatch training gives hiring managers concrete evidence of readiness beyond the certification itself.
Which companies hire entry level emts?
Companies hiring entry level emts right now include Hartford HealthCare, University of Utah, and CSL Plasma, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of private ambulance services, hospital systems, fire departments, and municipal emergency services agencies that regularly bring on newly certified candidates.
Are there remote entry level emt jobs?
Yes, though the majority of emt roles require on-site presence given the hands-on nature of the work. About 0% of entry level emt openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these typically involve dispatch coordination, medical billing, or emergency communications rather than direct patient care in the field.
Are these new grad emt jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior emt roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or clinical rotations toward requirements, or accepts a portfolio of volunteer hours and training certifications in place of full-time work history. Look for language like 'will train' or 'new grads encouraged to apply' as reliable signals.
Which industries hire the most entry level emts?
Entry level emt roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Law & Legal Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive the most hiring at this level because they operate around-the-clock emergency response programs and frequently need newly certified candidates to fill shift-based positions on active crews.
