Environmental Attorney Jobs in Nashville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an environmental attorney job in Nashville?
Focus on Nashville's strongest hiring sectors: municipal and county government agencies, energy utilities, real estate developers navigating brownfield and stormwater compliance, and construction firms working on large infrastructure projects. Roles concentrate downtown and in the Gulch. Candidates with Tennessee regulatory experience, permitting work, or litigation before state environmental agencies stand out most in this market.
Which companies hire environmental attorneys in Nashville?
Employers hiring environmental attorneys in Nashville right now include RK&K, S&ME, and Veolia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nashville's mix of municipal agencies, regional utilities, and large real estate developers creates steady demand for in-house and outside counsel with local regulatory knowledge.
Are there remote environmental attorney jobs in Nashville?
Yes, though the role is less remote-friendly than most legal specialties because site visits, agency hearings, and permitting work are often hands-on. About 40% of environmental attorney openings tied to Nashville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Advisory, compliance analysis, and contract review work are the tasks most likely to be performed remotely in Nashville-based positions.
How can I get an environmental attorney job in Nashville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Nashville is a clerkship or staff attorney role with Metro Nashville government or the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, both of which hire junior attorneys for compliance and enforcement work. Environmental consulting firms in the Gulch also bring on associates for permitting support. Familiarity with Tennessee's NPDES permitting process or TDEC procedures gives entry-level candidates a concrete edge locally.
