How you'll help us Keep Climbing
Reports to the General Manager - Corporate Environmental Programs. The Co-op will be assigned to support one or more of the Corporate Environmental Compliance Department’s Program Managers/subject matter experts for environmental media-related compliance programs. These include, but are not limited to:
- Air quality compliance (Federal and state air permits)
- Spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC) and response, above and underground storage tanks (ASTs/USTs), site remediation
- Waste Management (Hazardous, Non-hazardous, Universal wastes) and stormwater permitting and compliance (SWPPP)
- Environmental Management System (EMS), compliance management and information systems
The Co-op will receive exposure to all environmental media areas (Air, Water, Waste, etc.) during their full rotation. The student will assist Program Managers in developing, maintaining and implementing Delta’s media-related compliance programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and generally-accepted standards of good practice.
This role is compliance focused through assisting Program Managers in meeting and exceeding federal, state, and local (US EPA, State Departments of Environmental Quality, and County/Municipal) compliance at the station/facility level. Station/facility visits and some intermittent overnight domestic travel may be required. There is little to no work related to environmental sustainability in this role.
This position is full-time (40 hours/week) for three alternating (every-other) semesters and the ideal candidate will work in-person at our Atlanta headquarters for all three rotations.
What you need to succeed
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution
- At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
- Must be able to work on a full-time basis for 3 alternating semesters: Spring 2027, Fall 2027, and Summer 2028
- This position requires student to work for 3 alternating semesters. Student cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op/Intern at the same time, which may delay graduation by 1-2 semesters
- Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the Co-op
- Working as a Co-op/Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation. This position is intended to provide educational and professional work experience to prepare the student for the workforce

- Demonstrate strong technical written and oral communication skills
- Interact with internal workgroups of all levels
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft applications including OneDrive, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel, and have experience with other applicable internet applications
- Function effectively in a fast-paced environment and short-notice situations
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States
