We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environmental Project Specialist – Senior to join our team specializing in Health & Safety for our Cummins location in York, SC.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

- HSE Technical Expertise & Continuous Improvement: Success requires deep understanding of hazard identification, environmental aspects, risk assessment, and compliance obligations—along with the ability to interpret data, identify improvement opportunities, and drive continuous improvement using methodologies like Plan‑Do‑Check‑Act.
- Project Leadership & Execution: You must be able to lead cross‑functional project teams, set clear goals and timelines, manage resources and risks, track progress, communicate status, and deliver results from concept through implementation using approved project management methods.
- Training, Coaching & Document Management: You will need strong training and presentation skills to deliver effective learning, coach others on HSE processes, maintain controlled documentation, support audits, and develop materials that strengthen skills, communication, and compliance across the organization.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree required. Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental degree preferred.
Experience:
Intermediate relevant experience required, including team leadership and project management. Experience with Industrial Safety Standards preferred. 3-5 years of experience.
Core Responsibilities
- Document Control: Manage, update, and maintain policies, procedures, and all associated controlled documents.
- Incident Investigation Quality: Oversee the quality and consistency of site incident investigations, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Contractor Safety Oversight: Administer and monitor the contractor safety program to ensure compliance and safe work practices.
Required Additional Skills, Education, or Experience
- Training & Facilitation: Strong ability to deliver engaging training and present information clearly to diverse audiences.
- First Aid & Case Management: Experience supporting first aid response and managing injury cases appropriately.
- Engineering‑Focused Solutions: Ability to identify and recommend engineering control solutions as a minimum standard for risk reduction.
Preferred Skills, Education, or Experience
- Communication & Awareness: Background in advertising or marketing to support safety communication and engagement initiatives.
- ISO Expertise: ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 auditor certification (or internal auditing experience) to support management system compliance.
