Position Overview
Davey Resource Group Inc. (DRG) is seeking persons interested in natural resources careers, as an Environmental Technician. DRG provides a full array of horticultural, ecological stewardship, lakeshore, ravine, streambank, and bluff restoration to clients in the private and public sectors throughout the Midwest.
This position will assist with Asian Longhorn Beetle (ALB) ground survey and ecological restoration!
Job Duties
Position Description and Responsibilities Duties: Selected candidates will work collaboratively as part of a team. Position involves a variety of work, including invasive plant species control, native plant and seed installation, streambank, lake shore, ravine, and bluff stabilization and restoration, prescribed burning and other types of habitat restoration. The position is full-time but depends on workload and weather conditions. Majority of work is outdoors, often in inclement weather and in rugged terrain, and may involve using heavy equipment, such as spray rigs, backpack sprayers, augers, chain saws, etc.
Qualifications
Desired qualifications: Possession of or be willing to obtain an Illinois Department of Agriculture Certified Pesticide Applicators License is required. Prescribed burn experience and S130/S190 certification, and native plant identification a plus. Training in chain saw, brush saw, and 4x4 ATV/UTV beneficial. A degree in biology, botany, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or related fields is preferred.
Applicants should be college graduates with a minimum of a two-year degree from an accredited University or College in forestry, urban forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, plant biology, conservation, or environmental science or related fields.
Candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and Google. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record, and be able to report directly to the work site.
