Overview
This maintenance position is responsible for all facilities inspection, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, assembly, servicing, and preventive maintenance actions to include but not limited to: General Facilities Maintenance, limited Plumbing, limited Electrical, and limited Heating/Air Conditioning tasks. Specializes in one or more of the following areas: Carpentry/woodworking, locks and door hardware, Medical Gas System, TV System, Nurse Call System, Pneumatic Tube System (if applicable), Elevators, and/or Roof repair. Subject to be scheduled on-call rotations on weekends and Holidays as well as responding to emergencies and disasters in person, if and when requested. Coordinates and assists with outside 3rd party contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance oversees to ensure compliance, may be expected to procure parts and services. The Equipment Mechanic will also be expected to assist co-workers as required. Expected to work harmoniously with other departments, being proactive, exhibiting timely follow up, and participating on work teams/committees when opportunities present themselves.
What you will do
- Installation and repair work on lighting systems and fixtures, inoperable doors and hardware, patching walls and surfaces, ceiling/floor tiles, furniture, cabinets, desk, chairs, hallway bumpers, and wall end caps, white boards, pictures, signs, and other wall fastened items. Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs ensuring the beautification and upkeep of the Facility. Perform preventative maintenance inspections/tasks per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and document maintenance concerns/resolutions; providing action plans and status reports as needed.
- Performs/Assists co-workers outside of related skill when required during manning short falls or in an Emergency situation to include but not limited to: General Facility Maintenance, Plumbing, Electrical, and/or Heating/Air Conditioning work and snow removal. Assist other departments and units in times of disaster.
- Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to Maintenance Supervisor. Has a general knowledge of DNV, NFPA, AADMS, ADA, OSHA, local, state and federal codes, requirements or regulations and is in accordance with Riverside policies and procedures. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves as needed.
- Operate and maintain a variety of mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, generators, and various hand tools required for carpentry, and plumbing tasks. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area.
- Perform carpentry work including the repair of furniture, walls, doors, and other carpentry work as required. Maintaining TV System. Update Software as required. Identify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace Pneumatic Tube System components. Update Software on system as required. Identify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace Medical Gas components, upkeep of specialized maintenance tools, and overseeing of the onsite gas storage facilities. Identify, inspect troubleshoot, repair, and replace Nurse Call system components. Perform limited Elevator maintenance and/or coordinate and assist Contractors with maintenance actions. Perform minimal Roof repairs and/or coordinate and assist Contractors with maintenance repairs. Have ability to run critical shutdowns of life support systems as small projects to include running, installing, and maintaining of critical backup systems. Coordinates and assists outside contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance, which may include procuring parts and services.
Qualifications
Education
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
- Three years of multi-trade experience in commercial equipment repair with a concentration in one of the Specialized Skills (Preferred)
- Carpentry/woodworking, locks and door hardware, Medical Gas System, TV System, Nurse Call System, Pneumatic Tube System, Elevators, and/or Roof repair (Preferred)
- Ability to operate a computer and use computer software. (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Operates company vehicles as essential function of the job
- Valid Drivers License Required
Hours: Labor Pool. 16-24 hours per week and may include weekends. Shift between 7:00 am-7:00 pm.
Must be available to attend a week long orientation Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm.
