Field Service Technician Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field service technician job in Columbus?
The strongest hiring in Columbus is in medical device servicing, industrial equipment maintenance, and utilities infrastructure, with employer clusters in Polaris, Easton, and the manufacturing corridors along I-270 and Route 33. Candidates who hold relevant certifications such as CompTIA, HVAC, or OEM-specific credentials stand out. Familiarity with the Columbus manufacturing base and willingness to cover a regional territory gives applicants a clear edge over generalist candidates.
Which companies hire field service technicians in Columbus?
Employers hiring field service technicians in Columbus right now include Mettler-Toledo, Mainspring Energy, and NCR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Columbus attracts a mix of large national equipment manufacturers with regional service hubs and local utilities, healthcare systems, and industrial operations that maintain dedicated in-house field service teams.
Are there remote field service technician jobs in Columbus?
Remote work is uncommon for field service technician roles because the job is fundamentally hands-on and site-based. About 50% of field service technician openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be technical support, service coordination, or diagnostic roles rather than the physical installation and repair work that defines most positions in this market.
How can I get a field service technician job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through associate-level or apprentice technician roles at equipment distributors and facilities management companies concentrated in the Polaris and Easton areas. Employers in Columbus's medical device and industrial automation sectors regularly hire candidates from local vocational programs and community colleges for entry-level service assistant roles. Holding any OEM or trade certification, even at the entry level, moves a resume to the top of the stack for local hiring managers.
Which industries hire the most field service technicians in Columbus?
Most field service technician openings in Columbus sit in Manufacturing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Columbus's combination of major healthcare systems, a strong manufacturing presence along its outer belt, and significant utilities and telecommunications infrastructure makes it one of the more diverse field service markets in the Midwest.
