INTRODUCTION
The Supervisor Food Services manages staff in the department in order to ensure the delivery of high-quality food service. This role ensures that trays contain accurate ingredients and portions, ensures that employees are complying with all regulatory agency standards, and helps train employees and document their development status. This role ensures that storage areas use the proper labeling, dating, and storage protocol for food. This role also helps create cleaning assignment schedules and inspect that the department is following Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
- Assigns, supervises, and directs nutrition service employees, including completing performance appraisals and implementing disciplinary actions when needed.
- Ensures timely and efficient meal service to all service areas by following the opening and closing checklist, making sure that all documentation is in place, making sure all areas are staffed accordingly, and making sure that all food is presentable.
- Adheres to and ensures that employees comply with all regulatory agency standards (Infection Control, Health Department, The Joint Commission) and department and hospital policies and procedures (dress code) as evidenced by satisfactory inspections and audits.
- Reviews, inspects and monitors the completion of daily cleaning assignment sheets.
- Inspects all walk-in coolers, freezers, and reach-ins in order to ensure the proper labeling, dating, and storage of materials.
- Provides employee training and ongoing development and ensures that comprehensive documentation systems are maintained, so that status, progress and participation can be easily monitored.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: 3-5 years of food service supervisory experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/LISTING:
- Required: SERV Safe Certification required within one year from date of hire (must be renewed every 5 years).
