JOB DESCRIPTION
Your impact in this role:
Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering/scientific techniques, processes and criteria independently, making minor modifications to achieve clear and specific project results within a narrow focus area. The function performs the activities in one of the following focus areas: Ceramic sanitaryware, Glass, Glass recycling, advanced processed minerals, fillers for polymers or coatings, water treatment, construction, high purity quartz.
In this role, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Analyze and interpret test results using a range of methods from standard and well-established routines to specially adapted processes.
- Connect different test results and analyze the impact on follow-up investigation and research activities.
- Plans own work within constraints of a research program or test schedule.
- Liaises with maintenance staff on repair of faults and modifications.
- Perform scientific activities to support the development of innovative concepts and ideas based on the instructions of the Scientist.
- Understand the principles of different test techniques and methodologies and determine which is best suited for the purpose of the activities.
- Ensure qualitative and timely delivery of project objectives within predefined scope and budget.
- Lead small projects.
BACKGROUND
- Technical Diploma, bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering with Chemistry, or Materials Science, Geology, Biology or Biotechnology required.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in similar role.
- Practical understanding of industrial mineral industry.
- Practical understanding of processing and application of minerals in the intended field of application (e.g., Ceramic tiles, Coatings, water treatment etc.) and practical understanding of the typical test protocols for these kinds of applications.
- Ability to work with a basic set of software packages.
- Extensive understanding of the relevant product segment.
- Knowledge of industry's safety regulations and ensure activities are in compliance with those regulations.
- Experience in materials science in one or more specific focus areas.
- Efficient and clear communication to motivate a team.
- Able to transfer knowledge, open minded, team player.
- Pro-active, Self-motivated and Analytical.
