Data Contributor Green Card Jobs
Data Contributor roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a data-related field. Your employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL before petitioning USCIS, permanently anchoring your U.S. career rather than renewing a temporary work status every few years.

INTRODUCTION
At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
The Analytics Platform and Experience (APeX) team is responsible for providing orchestration and compute technologies to ETL and to access nearly 1 ExaByte of data in the Netflix Warehouse. It is also responsible for the underlying table format, Iceberg (an industry-standard table format and an open-source project originating in this team), metadata, security, and the data lifecycle (janitoring, compaction, etc.). The team also owns the end-to-end development experience for data practitioners and provides scalable, self-serve analytics capabilities and platforms for Analytics Engineers and business users.
Within APeX, the Orchestration team builds and operates a reliable, cost-efficient, and easy-to-use orchestration platform that powers Netflix's analytics and machine learning workflows. We enable scheduling, orchestrating, and executing big data workflows at scale—supporting the backbone of how data is produced, transformed, and consumed across Netflix. At the core of this platform is Maestro, our next-generation workflow orchestration system. Maestro is a fully managed workflow-as-a-service (WaaS), designed and built in-house to meet Netflix’s scale and complexity. Maestro serves thousands of users—including data scientists, data engineers, ML engineers, and software engineers—powering hundreds of thousands of workflows and millions of jobs every day.
Beyond orchestration, the team is investing in higher-level abstractions. This includes an ETL framework for incremental data processing that improves data freshness and accuracy while simplifying backfills—directly impacting cost and operational efficiency. We are also advancing intelligent operations through automated error classification and GenAI-powered remediation, leveraging systems like Pensive and Nightingale.

- Experience building and running extremely reliable platform systems supporting high-scale and critical workloads, including running a 24x7 on-call, 99.95+% availability, fast response, and short mean-time-to-restore service.
- Bring rigor to decision-making and reduce ambiguity with the right mix of data collection, seeking input, farming for dissent, and making pilot investments to build understanding or confirm direction.
- Proven track record helping a team deliver timely results on critical priorities against many demands for their time, and partnering with product and engineering management to influence the right areas for investment.
- Experience building and leading software engineering teams with a focus on inclusion and diversity, ensuring that we can attract and retain the best talent from anywhere and that all voices are heard to inform our direction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Orchestration, Spark, Trino/Presto, Snowflake, BigQuery, RedShift, Druid, LanceDB, and/or Big Data Analytics technologies is not a must, but very desirable.

Document your specialized data skills formally
PERM requires your employer to prove no qualified U.S. workers are available for your exact role. Gather degree transcripts, certifications in data tools, and employment letters that match the specific duties in the job description before your employer posts the PERM recruitment ads.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Not every employer running data roles has experience sponsoring green cards. Search OFLC's disclosed PERM data for employers who have filed certifications for data analyst or data contributor job titles, these companies already understand the process and are less likely to stall mid-application.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to find Data Contributor openings filtered by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never run a PERM case and may balk at the timeline.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 classification with your employer
If your Data Contributor role requires a master's degree or you hold one and the duties support advanced-degree classification, push for EB-2 designation. EB-2 priority dates move faster for most countries outside India and China, which can cut years off your wait for a green card interview.
Negotiate job offer language before PERM drafting starts
PERM locks in the minimum requirements your employer will advertise. Negotiate the educational and experience minimums in your offer letter before PERM drafting begins, once DOL requirements are filed, changing them means restarting the entire labor certification from scratch.
Track your priority date against USCIS Visa Bulletin cutoffs
Your EB-2 or EB-3 priority date is set when USCIS receives your approved I-140 petition. Check the monthly USCIS Visa Bulletin to monitor when your country's cutoff date reaches yours, because that determines when you can file your I-485 adjustment of status application.

Find Data Contributor JobsData Contributor Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Data Contributor role qualify for an employment-based green card?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a field like computer science, information systems, statistics, or a related discipline. Roles requiring an advanced degree or involving specialized analytical responsibilities may qualify for EB-2. Roles requiring a standard four-year degree qualify for EB-3 as a professional. Your employer's attorney reviews the duties and minimum requirements to determine the correct category before filing PERM with DOL.
How does the PERM green card process differ from H-1B sponsorship for Data Contributors?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status renewed in three-year increments with no guaranteed path to permanence. PERM-based EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship leads directly to lawful permanent residency. There is no annual lottery, no cap concerns for EB-3 professionals in most countries outside India and China, and your status doesn't depend on your employer renewing paperwork every few years. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and priority date waiting periods mean the full process can span one to several years depending on your country of birth.
How do I find employers who will sponsor a green card for a Data Contributor position?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Data Contributor openings by employers with documented green card sponsorship history. Many data roles are posted by companies that technically could sponsor but have never done it, so targeting employers with prior PERM filings in your job category significantly shortens the time you spend qualifying opportunities. You can also cross-reference DOL OFLC disclosure data to verify which employers have filed PERM certifications for similar data roles.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for a Data Contributor role?
Your employer files an ETA Form 9089 with DOL after completing a mandatory recruitment period, typically lasting at least 30 days, to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers applied for the position. The job posting must list the exact minimum requirements tied to your role. Once DOL certifies the application, your employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Audit rates for data roles can be elevated, so precise job duty language and thorough recruitment documentation matter.
Can I switch employers after my PERM is filed for a Data Contributor job?
You can port an approved I-140 to a new employer in a same or similar occupational category under AC21 portability rules, but only after your I-485 adjustment of status application has been pending for 180 days or more. If you change jobs before your I-140 is approved, the PERM and petition generally do not transfer and must restart with the new employer. Protecting your priority date by waiting until I-485 is pending is the clearest way to preserve your place in line.
