About the Role:
At Glean, our Enterprise and Platform experiences are foundational to our customers' success. We are looking for an experienced Senior User Researcher to focus on our admin persona—the IT leaders, setup admins, and citizen developers who deploy, configure, govern, and expand Glean within their organizations.
As a dedicated researcher for this high-priority investment area, you will play a critical role in removing deployment friction, improving the sandbox and trial experiences, and shaping the future of agent governance and ROI measurement. You’ll collaborate closely with members of our product, design, engineering, and GTM teams to integrate research into roadmaps, drive impact from insights, and ensure admins can unlock and prove Glean's value.
This role is part of our Design team, a tight-knit and collaborative group. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned researcher who thrives on untangling complex enterprise workflows and helping to grow the team in the future.
You will:
- Own high-impact research for the Enterprise & Platform area, focusing on admin, IT, and builder experiences.
- Conduct mixed-methods research across the product lifecycle—foundational, generative, evaluative, and post-launch.
- Help shape critical product areas including admin onboarding, platform setup, governance and permissions, billing and consumption visibility, and ROI reporting.
- Generate actionable insights that improve deployment, rollout confidence, adoption, and long-term customer value.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Data Science, and cross-functional stakeholders to influence roadmap and execution.
- Mentor and enable others to run high-quality evaluative research when appropriate.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully across the research workflow while maintaining rigor, sound judgment, and high-quality outputs.
About you:
- 5–7+ years of User Experience Research (UXR) experience, with a proven track record of shaping B2B or enterprise product strategy.
- Deep expertise with IT, admin, and builder personas—specifically researching deployment, governance, and configuration in complex software environments.
- Strong systems-thinker capable of navigating multi-stakeholder ecosystems (buyers, admins, end-users, security) to balance competing needs and risk thresholds.
- End-to-end impact—ability to connect research on ROI, time-to-value, and adoption directly to shipped product decisions alongside PM, Design, and Engineering.
- Mastery of qualitative methods (contextual inquiry, journey mapping, JTBD) combined with strong quantitative research skills (survey design, statistical literacy, and triangulation with behavioral product data).
- Self-directed and scrappy—comfortable scoping, recruiting, and driving research independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Nice-to-haves:
- Working knowledge of SQL or a scripting language such as Python or R for exploratory analysis.
- Experience with enterprise security, compliance, or governance research, including developer tools, APIs, platform products, or technical setup workflows.
- Familiarity with enterprise APIs, MCP, connectors, or integration architecture.
- Background in productivity tools, collaboration software, or knowledge management.
- Applied AI proficiency: hands-on experience using AI tools across the research lifecycle, with strong judgment about rigor, bias, and reliability.
Location:
- This role is hybrid (4 days a week in our San Francisco office)
Compensation & Benefits:
The standard base salary range for this position is $185,000 - $210,000 annually. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation, equity, and benefits.

Document your UX research methods formally
PERM requires your employer to justify why your credentials match the job's minimum requirements. Build a portfolio that maps your specific research methods, tools, and degree field directly to the advertised role's duties, not just outcomes.
Target employers with dedicated UX teams
Companies running ongoing research programs are more likely to treat your role as permanent and business-critical, which is exactly the framing PERM requires. Look for organizations with in-house research ops infrastructure, not agencies that staff research project-by-project.
Check the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and work location. Pull the OFLC Wage Search figures for your metro area early so your offer letter reflects a wage that won't require costly amendments later.
Clarify your degree equivalency early in hiring
If you hold a three-year bachelor's degree from outside the U.S., USCIS may not automatically accept it as equivalent to a four-year U.S. degree for EB-2 purposes. Get a credential evaluation completed before your employer begins the PERM filing timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Identifying which companies have actually filed PERM or I-140 petitions for research roles saves months of guesswork. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active green card sponsorship history so you can target your applications where sponsorship is already established practice.
Understand what changes between PERM and I-140 filing
Your employer controls the PERM and I-140 filings, but you must confirm the job description matches your actual duties throughout. Discrepancies discovered at the I-485 stage can invalidate earlier approvals, so stay in close contact with your employer's HR or immigration counsel.
Green Card User Researcher: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a User Researcher role typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3?
User Researcher positions qualify for EB-2 when the employer establishes that an advanced degree is a minimum requirement for the role. Most employers post these roles requiring a bachelor's degree, which places them in EB-3. If your employer can justify that a master's or equivalent is genuinely required, EB-2 becomes available and can shorten your wait time depending on your country of birth.
How does the green card PERM process differ from H-1B sponsorship for User Researchers?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa with an annual lottery cap and a three-year initial period. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the petition level, leads to permanent residency, and ties the approval to a specific job offer rather than an annual lottery. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM plus I-140 plus I-485 or consular processing typically takes two to four years or longer depending on your country of birth and USCIS backlogs.
What O*NET occupation code applies to User Researcher roles for PERM purposes?
User Researcher roles most commonly fall under O*NET code 15-1255.01 (User Experience Researchers and Designers) or adjacent codes depending on your specific duties. Your employer's immigration attorney uses the O*NET profile to identify the correct SOC code, which then determines the prevailing wage your offered salary must meet under DOL PERM requirements.
How can I find User Researcher jobs that already offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for User Researcher roles at employers with documented green card sponsorship history, filtering out the guesswork of cold-applying and then asking about immigration support. Targeting employers who have already filed PERM or I-140 petitions for research roles significantly shortens your path from offer to petition.
Can my employer start the PERM process before I'm on H-1B status?
Yes. PERM filing is not dependent on your current visa status. An employer can begin the PERM labor certification process for you while you're on OPT, H-1B, L-1 visa, or any other authorized status. Starting early matters because PERM approval, I-140 approval, and the priority date queue for your country of birth all run in sequence, and none of those clocks start until PERM is filed.
