About Pen Manufacturing
Pen Manufacturing is a prominent player in the sheet metal fabrication industry, renowned for delivering precision-engineered solutions. We are a fast growing and fast paced manufacturing company. Committed to quality and innovation, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our sheet metal manufacturing processes.
Head of Marketing & Content
Pen Manufacturing / Metal Solutions
Anaheim, CA
Full Time | On Site, 5 Days Per Week
Compensation: $80,000 to $120,000 Base + Performance Compensation | OTE up to $200,000
About the Role
We are looking for a hands on Head of Marketing & Content to build the marketing engine for Pen Manufacturing and, over time, the broader Metal Solutions platform.
This role starts at our Pen Manufacturing plant in Anaheim. The initial mission is simple: build a high output marketing and content engine that works at Pen. As we prove the model and grow Metal Solutions, we want this person to expand that playbook across our other manufacturing companies and plants and ultimately grow into leading marketing across the broader platform.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind an agency, manage a calendar, and review other people's work.
We want a builder and creator.
You should be equally comfortable developing marketing strategy, walking onto the manufacturing floor with a camera, interviewing a welder or engineer, editing the footage, publishing it on LinkedIn, managing a newsletter, reviewing CRM data, and getting on a call with an outside SDR agency to improve its performance.
What You'll Own
Content Creation
Our goal is to build toward approximately five pieces of content per day, ranging from short form posts and videos to longer form articles, case studies, newsletters, and customer stories.
You will personally:
- Shoot photo and video content
- Edit short and long form video
- Write LinkedIn posts, articles, case studies, emails, and website copy
- Interview employees, customers, executives, and technical experts
- Turn shop floor activity into compelling stories
- Repurpose individual stories into multiple pieces of content across channels
- Build and manage a consistent content calendar
We want someone who can walk the manufacturing floor, see an interesting project being built, and immediately recognize five different pieces of content that can come from it.
AI experience is a major plus. We want someone who understands how to use AI tools to accelerate video and content editing, research, repurposing, automation, and overall production volume without sacrificing quality.
LinkedIn will be one of our most important channels.
You will own strategy and execution for company pages, executive profiles, thought leadership, customer engagement, recruiting content, and content supporting our outbound sales efforts.
We want someone who genuinely understands LinkedIn and what gets attention, engagement, and ultimately commercial results, not someone who simply knows how to schedule posts.
Newsletters & Email
Own our ongoing customer and prospect newsletter strategy, including identifying stories, writing and editing copy, building campaigns, maintaining lists, and measuring performance.
Sales & Lead Generation
Marketing needs to contribute to revenue.
You will work directly with leadership and Sales to:
- Identify target customers and industries
- Develop messaging and campaigns
- Create sales collateral
- Support outbound prospecting
- Manage outside SDR and appointment setting agencies
- Review targeting and account lists
- Monitor lead and appointment quality
- Hold outside partners accountable for results
- Track what turns into pipeline and revenue
You will also help maintain CRM cleanliness, lead data, campaign attribution, and basic sales and marketing workflows.
SEO, Website & Digital Marketing
We currently work with outside marketing resources, but our goal is to bring significantly more capability in house.
Strong practical SEO experience is therefore a major advantage. Ideally, you understand keyword strategy, on page SEO, content strategy, website management, analytics, and the fundamentals of technical SEO.
Our ideal hire eventually becomes capable enough across content, SEO, website, email, analytics, and digital marketing that we can substantially reduce or eliminate our dependence on an outside marketing agency.
What We're Looking For
We care more about what you can actually build than the titles you have held.
You should have:
- Excellent writing ability
- Strong content creation skills
- Video shooting and editing experience
- Deep understanding of LinkedIn
- Strong marketing strategy instincts
- Experience across multiple digital channels
- Experience working directly with sales teams
- Experience managing SDR agencies, lead generation partners, or outbound campaigns
- Strong analytical instincts and an ability to connect marketing activity to commercial results
- The ability to understand technical products and communicate them simply
- The ability to operate independently without a large marketing team underneath you
- High standards for creative quality combined with the ability to produce content at high volume
Major bonuses:
- Experience using AI to dramatically increase content production and editing speed
- SEO and website management experience
- CRM experience
- Industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, aerospace, defense, construction, engineering, or technical B2B experience
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, we expect you to:
- Build a repeatable marketing and content engine at Pen Manufacturing
- Build toward approximately five pieces of content per day across formats and channels
- Make LinkedIn a meaningful source of awareness, relationships, recruiting, leads, and commercial opportunities
- Build a strong library of video, photography, case studies, customer stories, and sales content
- Establish consistent customer and prospect newsletters
- Improve our CRM and marketing data
- Improve the effectiveness of our SDR and outbound programs
- Build clear reporting connecting marketing to leads, opportunities, and revenue
- Bring more SEO, content, website, and digital marketing capabilities in house
- Create a repeatable playbook that can eventually be deployed across additional Metal Solutions plants
Growth Opportunity
This position starts on site at Pen Manufacturing in Anaheim.
We want someone who can prove the model here first.
As Metal Solutions grows and adds additional manufacturing businesses and plants, our goal is for this person to take what works at Pen and deploy it across the broader organization.
For the right person, this can grow from being the marketing leader for one manufacturing operation into building and leading the marketing function across an expanding portfolio of industrial businesses.
Compensation
Base Salary: $80,000 to $120,000 depending on experience
On Target Earnings: Up to $200,000
Performance compensation will be tied to meaningful business results. We care about pipeline, customers, revenue, and measurable growth, not vanity metrics.
Location
Anaheim, California
This is an in person role, five days per week.
Being physically present is fundamental to the job. Our people, machines, projects, customers, and manufacturing operations are the content.
How to Apply
Please send your resume or LinkedIn profile along with examples of content you have personally created to hr@industrialsuccession.com
We especially want to see:
- LinkedIn accounts or campaigns you have grown
- Videos you personally shot or edited
- Posts, articles, or newsletters you personally wrote
- B2B campaigns you developed
- Examples where your marketing contributed to pipeline or revenue
Please be specific about what you personally created versus work produced by an agency or someone else on your team.

Head Of Content Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a head of content in California?
California does not require a state-issued license to work as a head of content, so the path runs through education and accumulated experience. Most hiring managers expect a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or English, and several California universities including UCLA, USC, and UC Berkeley offer strong programs in those disciplines. From there, candidates typically build through editorial, copywriting, or content marketing roles before moving into management, with a portfolio of content programs they have owned end to end.
How much do head of contents make in California?
Head of contents in California earn a median of about $129,790 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,570 for the lowest 10% to over $306,850 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire head of contents in California?
Employers hiring head of contents in California right now include NOOKS, Rippling, and Anthropic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, streaming platforms, and direct-to-consumer brands means demand is spread across both large enterprise employers and fast-growing startups.
Which California cities have the most head of content jobs?
San Francisco, Anaheim, and Foster City account for the largest concentration of head of content openings in California. Los Angeles dominates because of its density of entertainment studios, media companies, and direct-to-consumer brands, while San Francisco and San Jose reflect demand from technology and SaaS companies headquartered in the Bay Area, where content leadership sits close to product and marketing functions.
Are there remote head of content jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Head of content is a desk-based, strategic role with no requirement for physical presence, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 100% of head of content openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of distributed content teams. The work most commonly done remotely includes editorial planning, content strategy, stakeholder reviews, and performance reporting.
How can I get hired as a head of content in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a content coordinator or associate content strategist role at a California technology or media company, where you build the editorial and analytical skills that head of content positions require. Large California employers like Salesforce, Google, and Disney run associate and rotational marketing programs that accept candidates without direct leadership experience. Building a portfolio through freelance content work, a company blog, or a personal publication gives California hiring managers something concrete to evaluate when your resume is light on seniority.
Where can I find and apply to head of content jobs in California?
You can find and apply to head of content jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings. Search the listings to see roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
