INTRODUCTION
Leads the expansion of the International Wealth Management business by combining personal business development, advisor recruitment, and team leadership. This role is responsible for managing and growing an individual client book, recruiting and developing Financial Advisors and advisor teams, and providing ongoing leadership and business development support to the broader Financial Advisor group dedicated to the international banking segment. In partnership with senior leadership, the Head of International Wealth Management Business Development helps shape and execute strategies to deepen relationships within the international banking channel and convert those opportunities into sustainable wealth management growth.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the growth of the International Wealth Management business through the recruitment, onboarding, development, and oversight of Financial Advisors dedicated to the international banking segment.
- Serve as the primary business development leader for advisor recruiting efforts, including sourcing, evaluating, attracting, and helping onboard experienced Financial Advisors and advisor teams aligned with the Bank’s international client strategy.
- Build and develop a productive advisor cluster or team by creating a scalable recruiting model, establishing performance expectations, and supporting long-term advisor retention and productivity.
- Drive advisor recruitment activity through internal and external networking, pipeline development, market intelligence, and coordination with senior leadership, Human Resources, and other relevant business partners.
- Manage and grow an individual book of business by developing new client relationships, deepening existing relationships, and delivering profitable growth consistent with the Bank’s strategic objectives.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and business development support to Financial Advisors serving the international banking channel, with a focus on improving sales effectiveness, client acquisition, and overall advisor productivity.
- Partner closely with International Banking leadership to strengthen referral generation, increase collaboration, and improve conversion of bank client opportunities into Wealth Management relationships.
- Establish and monitor sales, recruiting, revenue, and productivity goals for the advisor team, and regularly review performance against established benchmarks and strategic targets.
- Support the successful integration of newly recruited advisors and teams by coordinating onboarding, transition planning, training, and early-stage business development support to accelerate productivity.
- Identify and implement strategies to expand advisor coverage, enhance market penetration, and improve the overall scale and effectiveness of the International Wealth Management platform.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to advisors, including client observation, business planning, pipeline review, and individualized development plans designed to strengthen production and client relationship management capabilities.
- Ensure all business activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and the Bank’s policies and procedures, including those related to Audit, Compliance, BSA/AML, Information Security, and operational risk management.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including throughout Latin America, as needed to support business development, advisor recruiting, relationship management, and market expansion efforts.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, professionalism, accountability, and high-quality client service across the International Wealth Management advisor team and its partner groups.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field required. FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 (or Series 63/65, as applicable) required. Supervisory registration is required for the position or must be obtained within a specified period following hire, subject to role structure; Series 24 (General Securities Principal) preferred, although Series 9 and 10 may be acceptable depending on the scope of supervisory responsibilities. A master’s degree and/or advanced professional designation such as CFA, CFP®, or CIMA are a plus.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
At least ten years of proven experience in wealth management, private banking, brokerage, or advisory sales, including at least five years of experience in advisor recruiting, sales leadership, team development, or related business development roles. Strong knowledge of investment, advisory, banking, and trust products, as well as experience working with high-net-worth and international clients, preferred.
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess strong leadership, recruiting, and business development skills, with the ability to attract, onboard, develop, and retain Financial Advisors while also managing and growing an individual book of business. Requires strong sales, negotiation, coaching, supervisory, and relationship management skills, as well as the ability to support the broader Financial Advisor team serving the international banking segment. Requires strong knowledge of wealth management products and services, private banking and advisory solutions, and the international client segment, together with the ability to build effective partnerships across business lines and support referral-driven growth. Must be able to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, lead change effectively, and identify, assess, and escalate risks arising from business activity, regulatory requirements, or non-compliance with internal policies and procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, project management ability, professionalism, and executive presence are required.
TECHNICAL AND/OR OTHER ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE:
Strong knowledge of wealth management, advisory, brokerage, private banking, and trust products and services required, together with an understanding of the needs of high-net-worth and international clients. Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as familiarity with CRM and business reporting tools. Requires strong business development, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, along with excellent written, verbal, presentation, and listening abilities. Must be results-driven, collaborative, analytical, and capable of coaching advisors, managing competing priorities, and adapting effectively to change. Working knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, BSA/AML, and operational risk requirements is also required.
