Senior Level Hospice Director Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level hospice director job?
At the senior level, employers expect candidates who have already owned program outcomes, not just managed day-to-day operations. Demonstrating regulatory compliance leadership, QAPI program ownership, and a history of improving census or quality metrics will differentiate you. Highlight any experience mentoring clinical managers, leading accreditation cycles, or steering a hospice through a survey or acquisition.
Which companies hire senior level hospice directors?
Companies hiring senior level hospice directors right now include Henry Ford Health, Agrace, and Optum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes primarily from regional and national hospice operators, large home health and post-acute care systems, and hospital-affiliated palliative care networks looking for experienced operational leaders.
Are there remote senior level hospice director jobs?
Yes, though most senior hospice director roles require at least some on-site presence given the clinical oversight responsibilities involved. About 17% of senior level hospice director openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve multi-site or regional oversight rather than direct daily clinical supervision.
What makes a hospice director role senior level?
Senior level hospice director roles carry broader scope and deeper ownership than mid-level positions. Expectations include setting organizational strategy for clinical quality and compliance, overseeing multiple service lines or locations, mentoring clinical and administrative managers, and holding final accountability for regulatory outcomes. The role requires independent decision-making authority and a proven ability to lead through change.
Which industries hire the most senior level hospice directors?
Senior Level hospice director roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Government & Public Sector, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the senior level because they operate at scale, face complex accreditation and reimbursement environments, and need experienced leaders who can sustain quality outcomes across high-volume patient populations.
