Human Resources Intern Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources intern in Delaware?
Most Delaware employers require active enrollment in a bachelor's program in human resources, business administration, or a related discipline. Delaware does not require a state-issued license specifically for HR interns, so the path centers on academic standing and applied coursework. Programs at the University of Delaware, Delaware State University, and Wilmington University are well recognized by local employers. A student membership in SHRM and a completed HR-related course project or campus leadership role strengthens any application.
Which companies hire human resources interns in Delaware?
Delaware human resources intern roles are posted by Mountaire Farms of Delaware Inc of Millsboro, M&T Bank, and Mountaire Farms and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of financial services headquarters and large health systems in the Wilmington and Newark corridors means corporate and hospital HR teams are among the most active sources of intern openings.
Which Delaware cities have the most human resources intern jobs?
Wilmington, Millsboro, and Newark account for the largest share of human resources intern openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it hosts the U.S. headquarters of major banks and financial services firms, Newark benefits from the University of Delaware's employer partnerships and a concentration of life sciences companies, and Dover draws openings from state government agencies and healthcare networks anchored in the capital region.
Are there remote human resources intern jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since a significant portion of HR intern work involves data entry, applicant tracking, documentation, and coordination that translates well to remote settings. About 38% of human resources intern openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the flexibility larger corporate employers have built into their programs. Roles focused on onboarding coordination and recruiting support are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a human resources intern in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured summer internship programs run by Delaware's large corporate employers before completing formal HR coursework. Christiana Care, JPMorgan Chase's Wilmington offices, and Delaware state agencies regularly accept applicants without prior HR experience if they are enrolled students. Lateral moves from administrative assistant or customer service roles at the same employer are a common door-opener. Earning a SHRM Student Member certificate or completing an HR analytics project gives a candidate a concrete edge when experience is thin.
