Brian Sorensen has more than 26 years in HVAC installation, service and management. Nobody at Sorensen Heating and Cooling earns commission to keep salesmen from trying to be technicians and help ensure honesty and quality are maintained.
What you'll do
- Run service and repair on your own, on light commercial and residential systems, about 70 to 80% commercial, up to 20 tons
- Service restaurant rooftop equipment, exhaust and make-up air
- Quote and present repair options
- Help train and assist junior techs
Lead technicians also
- Take the lead on any job they're assigned to with other techs
- Assist in training, oversight and technical support of lower level techs
What you get
- $34 to $44 per hour, based on experience
- Take-home company van, with company van fuel covered
- Company phone
- Uniform shirts
- We supply the large tools, including vacuum pumps and recovery machines
- Paid weekly
- Monday to Friday, plus on-call rotation
- Overtime at time and a half over 40 hours
- Simple 401(k)
- Sick pay and PTO: 40 hours the first year, 80 hours the second year
- A written career ladder
On-call and travel
Primary and backup on-call each run on about a 3 to 4 week rotation. After-hours calls are paid at your hourly rate and count toward overtime. Some jobs are same-day, round-trip out-of-town calls, and overnights happen but are rare.
What you need
- Senior: 6 to 8 years of verified HVAC service and repair experience. Lead: 8 or more
- You'll need to show the knowledge for your level, at hire and on the job, to keep that position
- Commercial rooftop unit experience
- EPA 608 Universal
- Able to diagnose electrical and mechanical problems without help
- Able to work on rooftops, on ladders and in Arizona summer heat
- Your own standard technician hand tools
- Valid driver's license with a clean 39-month record (exceptions considered)
- Must pass a drug test and background check
- Live in or relocate to the Phoenix area

Trane commercial and Symbio controls, Lennox commercial, CaptiveAire exhaust and make-up air, experience training techs.
Pay: $34.00 - $44.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
