Industrial Design Engineer Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a industrial design engineer in New Hampshire?
Industrial design engineering in New Hampshire does not require a state-issued license, so the path centers on earning a bachelor's degree in industrial design, product design, or mechanical engineering, then building a portfolio of completed product work. Many New Hampshire employers in defense, medical devices, and consumer hardware place equal weight on portfolio quality and CAD proficiency as they do on formal credentials. Entry-level candidates who supplement their degree with SolidWorks certification and hands-on prototyping experience are consistently more competitive in the state market.
How much do industrial design engineers make in New Hampshire?
Industrial design engineers in New Hampshire earn a median of about $101,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,430 for the lowest 10% to over $155,010 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire industrial design engineers in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire industrial design engineer roles are posted by Veolia, Amphenol, and UPS and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's manufacturing base in defense electronics, medical devices, and precision hardware means roles frequently appear at both large systems integrators and mid-size contract manufacturers throughout the southern part of the state.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most industrial design engineer jobs?
Nashua, Manchester, and Londonderry have the most industrial design engineer openings in New Hampshire. Manchester and Nashua anchor the majority of postings because of the dense cluster of advanced manufacturing and electronics employers along the Route 3 corridor, while Portsmouth and the Seacoast region generate additional demand through defense contractors and medical device firms operating near the coast.
Are there remote industrial design engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, but they're rare. Industrial design engineering is heavily hands-on, requiring physical prototyping, lab access, and in-person collaboration with manufacturing teams, which limits remote flexibility. About 33% of industrial design engineer openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those postings typically cover early-stage conceptual work, technical documentation, or CAD modeling tasks that don't require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a industrial design engineer in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or co-op with one of New Hampshire's manufacturing employers during your final year of school, since companies like BAE Systems and Benchmark Electronics regularly bring on students from UNH and other regional engineering programs. Candidates without internship experience can target associate product designer or junior CAD technician roles as lateral entry points, then move into industrial design engineering as they build a portfolio. A SolidWorks Certified Professional credential and a portfolio showing two or three physical product projects significantly improve early-career candidacy in the New Hampshire market.
Where can I find and apply to industrial design engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
You can find and apply to industrial design engineer jobs in New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, which lists current New Hampshire openings from employers across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly through each listing.
