Information Systems Security Officer Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a information systems security officer in North Dakota?
Most information systems security officer roles in North Dakota require a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information systems, or a related field, plus an industry certification such as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional or CompTIA Security+. North Dakota does not issue a state-specific license for this role, but positions with state agencies often require adherence to North Dakota Information Technology Department security standards and may require federal security clearance eligibility for roles tied to government contracts.
Which companies hire information systems security officers in North Dakota?
Companies currently hiring information systems security officers in North Dakota include Ryder System, General Atomics, and Cloverdale Foods, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. State government agencies, energy sector firms, and regional healthcare systems are among the most consistent sources of information systems security officer openings in North Dakota.
Which North Dakota cities have the most information systems security officer jobs?
Bismarck, Mandan, and Emerado have the most information systems security officer openings in North Dakota. Bismarck leads because it is the state capital and home to major government IT operations, while Fargo draws openings from its concentration of financial services firms and healthcare systems, and Grand Forks benefits from the University of North Dakota and nearby federal installations that sustain steady cybersecurity demand.
Are there remote information systems security officer jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 0% of information systems security officer openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves policy review, risk assessments, and monitoring tasks that do not require a physical presence. Roles involving hands-on infrastructure work or classified federal systems are more likely to require on-site attendance.
How can I get hired as a information systems security officer in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an IT support, network administrator, or systems analyst role at a North Dakota state agency or a large regional employer like Sanford Health or Nodak Electric, then transitioning once you hold a foundational certification like CompTIA Security+. The North Dakota Information Technology Department occasionally posts entry-level security analyst positions that serve as a natural stepping stone, and pursuing a cybersecurity degree through the University of North Dakota or Dakota State University strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
