How do I get a infrastructure engineer job in New York?
New York's infrastructure engineer market centers on financial services firms, media conglomerates, and large enterprise technology shops, with the heaviest concentration of roles in Midtown and the Financial District. Candidates who stand out typically hold hands-on experience with cloud platforms, network architecture, or data center operations. Familiarity with the scale and compliance demands of Wall Street-adjacent environments gives applicants a clear edge in this city.
Which companies hire infrastructure engineers in New York?

New York's hiring base is unusually broad, mixing global banks, major media companies, healthcare systems, and fast-growing tech firms that all maintain significant on-site infrastructure in the city.
Are there remote infrastructure engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role: hands-on positions tied to physical data centers or network hardware are almost always on-site, while cloud infrastructure, automation, and monitoring roles are far more likely to be remote or hybrid. About 37% of infrastructure engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Cloud-focused and DevOps-adjacent roles in New York's financial and tech sectors tend to offer the most scheduling flexibility.
How can I get a infrastructure engineer job in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in New York is through helpdesk, systems administrator, or junior network technician roles at mid-size financial services firms or managed service providers that serve the city's dense commercial real estate and professional services sectors. New York also has a strong pipeline through CUNY programs and apprenticeships tied to city agencies. Earning certifications in AWS, Azure, or Cisco before applying gives entry-level candidates a measurable edge with local hiring managers.
