Insurance Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an insurance job in Chicago?
Focus your search on the Loop and River North, where carriers, independent brokerages, and third-party administrators concentrate their home offices and regional operations. Chicago's deep commercial real estate, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors drive steady demand for commercial lines, risk management, and employee benefits specialists. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with middle-market or large-account commercial clients stand out, as do those with designations like CIC or CPCU that signal technical depth.
Which companies hire insurance professionals in Chicago?
Chicago insurance roles are posted by Logic, WTW, and F.I.C. TAX and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The market includes national carriers with regional headquarters, Lloyd's-market wholesale brokers, captive management firms, and specialty lines underwriters, all of which maintain significant hiring presence in the city.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability varies sharply by function. Underwriting, claims analysis, actuarial, and compliance roles are increasingly offered remotely, while producer, account management, and on-site loss control positions typically require in-person presence. About 56% of insurance openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the industry's gradual shift toward flexible desk-based work. Analytical and back-office functions lead that trend locally.
How can I get an insurance job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through customer service or claims processing roles at a regional carrier or a large national insurer with operations downtown. Many Chicago-based brokerages and managing general agents hire entry-level account coordinators who train toward licensed producer or analyst positions. Earning a Property and Casualty or Life and Health license before applying signals commitment and lets you step into client-facing roles faster than candidates who wait until after hire.
Which industries hire the most insurance professionals in Chicago?
Most insurance openings in Chicago sit in Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's role as a hub for commodities trading, commercial real estate, and large hospital systems creates concentrated demand for specialty lines underwriters, risk managers, and benefits administrators that exceeds what you'd find in most comparably sized U.S. cities.
