Investment Banking Analyst Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a investment banking analyst job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's Loop and River North, where boutique and middle-market advisory firms, regional banks, and Big Four transaction services teams concentrate most of their hiring. Analysts with deal experience in industrials, healthcare, or infrastructure have an edge in Chicago's market. Networking through alumni from Northwestern, University of Chicago, and DePaul finance programs also opens doors that cold applications rarely do.
Which companies hire investment banking analysts in Chicago?
Employers hiring investment banking analysts in Chicago right now include Fitch Ratings, Google, and Deloitte, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's hiring pool is a mix of global bulge-bracket banks with downtown offices, regionally headquartered middle-market boutiques, and corporate development teams at major Chicago-based corporations.
Are there remote investment banking analyst jobs in Chicago?
Yes, but sparingly, as investment banking analyst work is heavily client-facing, deal-driven, and team-dependent, making fully remote arrangements uncommon. About 37% of investment banking analyst openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and most of those involve hybrid schedules rather than fully remote. Financial modeling, research, and due diligence support tasks are the functions most likely to carry flexible arrangements in Chicago.
How can I get a investment banking analyst job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a summer analyst internship at a Loop-based boutique or the downtown office of a regional bank, which frequently convert to full-time offers. Entry-level candidates who break in laterally often come from Big Four transaction advisory, corporate banking credit analyst programs, or equity research roles at Chicago-headquartered firms. A strong financial modeling foundation and a demonstrated interest in a sector Chicago firms cover, such as industrials or healthcare, accelerates that path.
Which industries hire the most investment banking analysts in Chicago?
Chicago investment banking analyst roles concentrate in Investment & Asset Management, Consulting & Professional Services, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's position as a hub for manufacturing, logistics, food and agriculture, and healthcare services means advisory and capital markets activity in those sectors consistently drives the largest share of local analyst hiring.
