Finance Business Partner Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance business partner in Illinois?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration, followed by several years in FP&A, financial analysis, or management accounting. Illinois does not require a state-issued license for finance business partner roles, but earning a CPA through the Illinois Board of Examiners or a CFA designation significantly strengthens candidacy. Large Illinois employers in manufacturing and healthcare typically promote into business partnering from internal financial analyst or controller roles.
Which companies hire finance business partners in Illinois?
Employers hiring finance business partners in Illinois right now include Aon, Entegris, and Experity, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in the Chicago metro, alongside major manufacturing and healthcare anchors in Peoria and Lake County, keeps demand for this role consistently active across multiple industries.
Which Illinois cities have the most finance business partner jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and Aurora have the most finance business partner openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates due to its density of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and healthcare systems, while Peoria is driven by Caterpillar's global finance operations and Deerfield reflects Baxter International's significant local presence and the broader Lake County pharma and medtech corridor.
Are there remote finance business partner jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most finance roles, since business partnering is largely analytical and collaborative rather than on-site dependent. About 100% of finance business partner openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly companies have accepted flexible arrangements for this function. The most remote-friendly sub-areas are commercial finance and FP&A, where work centers on modeling, reporting, and virtual stakeholder meetings.
How can I get hired as a finance business partner in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a financial analyst or junior FP&A role at a large Illinois employer, then transitioning into business partnering after building stakeholder and modeling experience. Caterpillar, Baxter, and major Chicago-area hospital systems such as Northwestern Medicine and Advocate Health run structured finance rotational and graduate programs that feed directly into business partner tracks. A CPA candidacy registered with the Illinois Board of Examiners or a completed CFA Level I signals commitment and gives early-career candidates a meaningful edge.
Where can I find and apply to finance business partner jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to finance business partner jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one from the listing.
