INTRODUCTION
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a IT Software Engineer 4 (Senior SDET). The work will be performed hybrid in Chicago, Illinois (3 days onsite per week), with the expectation of transitioning to full-time onsite in the future based on the client's business needs. This is a 12-month long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $106.00/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401(k), and holiday pay).
JOB SUMMARY
Cullerton Group is seeking an experienced Lead Software Test Automation Engineer (Senior SDET) to design, develop, and enhance enterprise test automation frameworks for complex software platforms. This role will lead automation strategy, build scalable API and performance testing solutions, mentor QA engineers, and collaborate with development teams to ensure high software quality throughout the CI/CD pipeline. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Java-based automation frameworks, REST API testing, and Agile software development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise test automation frameworks using Java and JavaScript.
- Develop automated API, integration, functional, and performance test suites using tools such as Karate and JMeter.
- Create test strategies, test plans, and automated test cases based on business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Mentor QA engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple software projects.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to support CI/CD, troubleshoot issues, and improve software quality.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of software test automation or SDET experience.
- Strong experience with: Java, Cucumber, JBehave, or other BDD frameworks, REST API/Web Services testing, Test automation framework design, SQL and relational databases, JMeter performance testing.
- End-to-end integration testing.
- Experience developing automated test scripts, test cases, and test data.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Python.
- AWS cloud development experience.
- Experience with TDD, CI/CD, Jenkins, Git, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with API gateways such as Apigee.
- Understanding of microservices architecture.
- Experience with load and performance testing.
- Previous experience supporting enterprise software platforms or large-scale engineering organizations.
