IT Security Analyst Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it security analyst in Kentucky?
Kentucky does not require a state-issued license to work as an it security analyst, so the path starts with a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or information technology from a Kentucky university such as the University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, or Eastern Kentucky University. Employers across the state consistently expect at least one recognized certification, with CompTIA Security+ being the most common entry-level credential. From there, most candidates move into junior analyst or IT support roles before advancing to dedicated security analyst positions.
How much do IT security analysts make in Kentucky?
IT security analysts in Kentucky earn a median of about $103,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,650 for the lowest 10% to over $157,810 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it security analysts in Kentucky?
Kentucky it security analyst roles are posted by Amazon, Humana, and Thomas More University and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kentucky's concentration of large healthcare systems, financial institutions, and government contractors means security analyst demand stays relatively steady throughout the year.
Which Kentucky cities have the most it security analyst jobs?
Louisville, Hebron, and Erlanger lead Kentucky for it security analyst openings. Louisville drives the largest share of postings because of its density of Fortune 500 headquarters, health insurers, and logistics companies, while Lexington adds volume through its university medical center and state government agencies, and Northern Kentucky benefits from its proximity to Cincinnati's cross-border employer base.
Are there remote it security analyst jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 43% of it security analyst openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Roles focused on cloud security monitoring, threat intelligence, and compliance auditing tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring hands-on lab access or cleared facility work are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a it security analyst in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a help desk or IT support role at a Kentucky employer, which builds the foundational network and systems knowledge that security teams look for. Large Kentucky health systems and state agencies regularly bring on IT generalists who transition into security functions after one to two years. Earning CompTIA Security+ before applying gives candidates a measurable edge, and programs through Eastern Kentucky University and Jefferson Community and Technical College offer accelerated cybersecurity coursework aligned with that credential. A home lab or a documented capstone project can substitute for formal experience when applying to junior or associate-level security roles.
Where can I find and apply to it security analyst jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to it security analyst jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kentucky openings in one place. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and location, and apply directly to each position that matches your experience.
