Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding J-1 Visa Sponsorship in Wholesale Account Executive
Frame your training plan around measurable sales outcomes
Your DS-2019 requires a detailed training plan tied to specific skills, not just job duties. Map each phase of your wholesale sales training to observable competencies like pipeline management, territory development, or distributor negotiation that a designated sponsor can approve.
Verify host employer eligibility before accepting interviews
Not every company that posts a Wholesale Account Executive role can legally serve as a J-1 host. Confirm the employer has worked with a State Department-designated sponsor before, since the sponsor, not the employer, issues your DS-2019 and carries compliance responsibility.
Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by J-1 sponsorship history
Search Wholesale Account Executive positions on Migrate Mate to identify U.S. employers whose hiring patterns align with J-1 exchange visitor placements, so you spend time on companies already familiar with host obligations and structured training documentation.
Check whether your role carries the two-year home residency requirement
Trainee and Intern category participants whose funding comes from their home government, or whose home country appears on the State Department skills list, may face a two-year return requirement before changing to H-1B or immigrant visa status. Confirm this before accepting an offer.
Align your background documents to the Trainee category criteria
The Trainee category requires either a relevant degree plus one year of related work experience, or five years of professional experience in wholesale sales or a related commercial field. Gather employment verification letters and transcripts early, since sponsors review these before issuing any DS-2019.
Negotiate training plan language with your host employer upfront
Employers unfamiliar with J-1 hosting often draft vague offer letters that designated sponsors reject. Ask your host to describe each training phase in writing, including duration and measurable goals, before submitting documentation to the sponsor for DS-2019 issuance.

Find Wholesale Account Executive JobsWholesale Account Executive J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category fits a Wholesale Account Executive role?
Most Wholesale Account Executive placements fall under the Trainee category, which covers professionals with a relevant degree plus at least one year of experience, or five or more years of field experience. Current students pursuing sales or business degrees may qualify under the Intern category instead, but the role and training plan must align with their academic program of study.
Who actually sponsors my J-1 visa for a wholesale sales position?
The visa sponsor is a U.S. Department of State-designated organization, such as CIEE, Cultural Vistas, or AIPT, not your employer. The hiring company is called the host organization. The designated sponsor reviews your training plan, issues the DS-2019 form, and monitors your exchange program for compliance throughout your stay. Your employer's role is to confirm the position and sign the training agreement.
How do I find U.S. employers open to hosting J-1 Wholesale Account Executives?
Migrate Mate lets you search for Wholesale Account Executive roles and identify employers whose hiring history aligns with J-1 exchange visitor placements. Because J-1 hosting requires employers to commit to a structured training plan and work with a designated sponsor, targeting companies already familiar with that process significantly improves your chances of a successful placement.
Can I transition from a J-1 Trainee position to an H-1B after my program ends?
You can pursue H-1B status after completing a J-1 Trainee program, but only if the two-year home residency requirement does not apply to you. If it does, you must return to your home country for two years, or obtain a waiver, before USCIS will approve a change to H-1B or most immigrant visa categories. Confirm your residency requirement status with your designated sponsor before making post-program plans.
What does a training plan for a J-1 Wholesale Account Executive need to include?
Designated sponsors require a training plan that breaks the program into distinct phases, each with specific skills, activities, and timeframes. For a wholesale sales role, that typically means phases covering product knowledge, client prospecting methods, account management systems, and territory strategy. Vague descriptions of general sales duties are routinely rejected, so work with your host employer to document measurable objectives for each phase before submitting to the sponsor.
