Dex by Terra — Outdoor Artistry at Its Finest
Hudson, MA · Full-Time · Design-Build
At Dex by Terra, we create high-end outdoor environments that transform how people live and work with their land — across both residential and commercial projects — and we're looking for a Senior Landscape Designer / Design–Sales Lead to own that vision from first handshake to final walkthrough.
This isn't a desk-bound drafting job, and it isn't pure sales. It's both. You'll be the creative force and the trusted advisor for our residential and commercial design-build clients, translating a vision into a buildable, beautiful, profitable project — then carrying it through with a production team that has the craftsmanship to match your design.
If you have the eye of a designer, the instincts of a closer, and the drive of an entrepreneur, this is a role where your work is visible, your client base is your own, and your earning potential grows with your reputation.
What You'll Do
- Own the client relationship. Serve as the primary point of contact for new residential and commercial design-build clients, from first consultation through construction.
- Listen, then design. Conduct site visits and consultations to understand each client's needs, goals, lifestyle, and budget.
- Bring concepts to life. Create detailed landscape design plans and polished presentations using AutoCAD (or similar) and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Present and close. Deliver comprehensive design-build proposals that clients are excited to say yes to.
- Hand off seamlessly. Partner with our estimating and production teams so every project is delivered the way you designed it.
- Stay the trusted advisor. Maintain strong client relationships through every phase of design and construction.
- Hit your numbers. Meet or exceed annual sales and design performance goals — and share in the success when you do.
- Represent the brand. Carry the Dex by Terra name with professionalism, creativity, and integrity.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in landscape design, landscape architecture, or design-build sales.
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a related field.
- A proven track record selling and managing high-end residential landscape projects in the $150K–$1M range.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and related design tools.
- A strong design portfolio that demonstrates your residential landscape design expertise.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client-management skills — you're as comfortable across a kitchen table as you are at a drafting screen.
- Solid knowledge of plants, materials, and construction techniques.
- A highly organized, self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset.
Why Dex by Terra
- Lead projects worth leading. High-end, design-forward work with budgets that let you do your best work.
- A production team that delivers. Your designs are built by craftspeople who care about quality as much as you do.
- Grow your own client base. This is a role with real ownership and the runway to build something that's yours.
- Creative autonomy with real support. Estimating, production, and an established brand behind every proposal you present.
- Competitive compensation. Base salary starting at $85,000–$120,000 depending on experience, plus uncapped commission on design-build sales.
- Benefits. Health and dental insurance, paid time off, and more.

Senior Level Lead Designer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level lead designer job?
Senior level lead designer roles go to candidates who demonstrate ownership beyond execution. Employers at this level look for a portfolio that shows design system leadership, measurable impact on product outcomes, and evidence of mentoring or directing other designers. Being able to articulate how your decisions shaped strategy, not just craft, is what separates strong candidates from mid-level applicants with similar years of experience.
Which companies hire senior level lead designers?
Companies hiring senior level lead designers right now include HDR, Veeva Systems, and WSP, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from organizations scaling their in-house design function, investing in design systems, or building products where design is a core competitive differentiator.
Are there remote senior level lead designer jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid availability is strong at the senior level. About 31% of senior level lead designer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many organizations treat experienced design leaders as distributed contributors who can operate independently without daily on-site supervision.
What makes a lead designer role senior level?
A senior level lead designer role is defined by scope and accountability rather than task complexity alone. These positions own design direction across a product or platform, set standards that other designers follow, and are expected to influence decisions at the product and business level. Mentoring junior and mid-level designers is a built-in expectation, and success is measured by team output and strategic impact, not individual deliverables.
Which industries hire the most senior level lead designers?
Senior level lead designer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors invest heavily in design at this level because product experience and design systems directly affect user retention, enterprise sales cycles, or both.
