Licensed Mental Health Professional Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a licensed mental health professional in Idaho?
Licensure in Idaho is overseen by the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses, which issues credentials including the Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker designations. Candidates need a master's degree in counseling, social work, or a closely related field from an accredited program, followed by supervised post-graduate clinical hours and passage of the relevant national licensure exam. Provisional licenses are available while completing the supervised experience requirement.
Which companies hire licensed mental health professionals in Idaho?
Idaho licensed mental health professional roles are posted by J-U-B ENGINEERS, WSP, and J-U-B ENGINEERS and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Community behavioral health agencies, federally qualified health centers, and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare represent some of the most consistent sources of openings across the state.
Which Idaho cities have the most licensed mental health professional jobs?
Boise, Meridian, and Twin Falls lead Idaho for licensed mental health professional openings. Boise anchors the market as the state's largest metro with the highest concentration of hospital systems, community health organizations, and state agency offices, while Idaho Falls and Twin Falls generate steady demand through regional medical centers and behavioral health networks serving surrounding rural counties.
Are there remote licensed mental health professional jobs in Idaho?
Yes, and more than most clinical fields, since telehealth has become a widely accepted delivery model for outpatient therapy and counseling. About 20% of licensed mental health professional openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the state's investment in expanding mental health access to rural communities. Telehealth roles most commonly cover individual therapy, psychiatric medication management support, and crisis triage.
How can I get hired as a licensed mental health professional in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a provisional or associate-level license through the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses while completing supervised clinical hours under a qualified supervisor. St. Luke's Health System and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare regularly hire provisional licensees and practicum students into associate counselor or case manager roles. Completing a practicum or internship at a federally qualified health center or community mental health center in Idaho, and earning a specialty certificate in substance use disorder counseling, gives candidates a measurable edge with most employers.
Where can I find and apply to licensed mental health professional jobs in Idaho?
You can find and apply to licensed mental health professional jobs in Idaho on Migrate Mate, which lists current Idaho openings across community health, hospital, school, and government settings. Search the available roles, find ones that match your license level and specialty, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
