Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in Kansas City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a licensed practical nurse job in Kansas City?
Kansas City's strongest hiring is in long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and home health agencies, with a secondary concentration in federally qualified health centers serving the urban core. Candidates with experience in wound care, IV therapy, or geriatric populations stand out locally. Targeting employers in the Medical Center district and the growing Northland suburbs gives you access to the highest volume of open roles.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in Kansas City?
Kansas City licensed practical nurse roles are posted by University Health KC, NKC Health, and Luxor Healthcare and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market is driven by a mix of large regional health systems, independent skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies serving both Jackson County and the broader metro area.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in Kansas City?
Yes, but only in a narrow range of settings, since most licensed practical nurse work requires direct patient contact at a care site. About 10% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to Kansas City are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting limited availability. The roles most likely to offer remote hours in Kansas City involve telephone triage, care coordination, or insurance utilization review.
How can I get a licensed practical nurse job in Kansas City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Kansas City is through long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, which consistently hire new graduates and candidates completing their first clinical hours. Local federally qualified health centers and home health agencies also bring on entry-level licensed practical nurses with supervised training structures. Completing a clinical rotation at a Kansas City-area facility and obtaining Basic Life Support certification before applying gives candidates a measurable edge in this market.
Which industries hire the most licensed practical nurses in Kansas City?
Kansas City licensed practical nurse roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The city's strong base of senior living communities, regional hospital networks, and community health clinics across both Missouri and the Kansas side of the metro drives consistent demand across those sectors.
