Senior Level Licensed Professional Counselor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level licensed professional counselor job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have moved beyond direct service into clinical leadership, whether that means supervising other counselors, designing treatment programs, or holding accountability for patient outcomes across a caseload or department. A fully unrestricted license, specialty credentials in areas like trauma, substance use, or behavioral health, and documented experience mentoring junior clinicians consistently give candidates an edge at this stage.
Which companies hire senior level licensed professional counselors?
Companies hiring senior level licensed professional counselors right now include WSP, Carollo Engineers, and Northwell Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers large health systems, integrated behavioral health networks, community mental health organizations, and private group practices expanding their clinical leadership bench.
Are there remote senior level licensed professional counselor jobs?
Yes, though availability depends on setting and licensure portability. About 40% of senior level licensed professional counselor openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with telehealth platforms and multi-state behavioral health groups driving the largest share of fully remote roles at this experience level.
What makes a licensed professional counselor role senior level?
Senior level licensed professional counselor roles are defined by ownership and scope rather than years alone. They typically involve clinical supervision of associate or junior counselors, responsibility for program development or quality assurance, and leadership in treatment planning for high-acuity populations. At this stage, employers expect you to set clinical direction, not just follow it.
Which industries hire the most senior level licensed professional counselors?
Senior Level licensed professional counselor roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Technology & Software, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate large, ongoing behavioral health programs that require experienced clinicians to lead care teams and maintain standards across complex service lines.
