Position: Utility Production Electrician I
We are seeking a skilled journey-level electrician to support our combined cooling, heating, and power production plants. This role focuses on service, preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems critical to utility production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain plant auxiliary AC/DC electrical systems: wiring, transformers, panels, generators, exciters, motors, rectifiers, batteries, UPS inverters, motor starters, and VFDs.
- Operate and maintain auxiliary power distribution systems: 480-volt substations, draw-out breakers, motor control centers, and load centers.
- Maintain low-voltage systems: lighting panels, lighting systems, and electrical components for utility production and process control.
- Replace interior/exterior lamps at various heights as needed.
- Install and maintain conduit and cabling for breakers, control systems, instrumentation, relays, meters, lighting, and receptacles.
- Support plant communications systems: public address systems, security systems (door/gate access), surveillance cameras.
- Coordinate work safely with utility operations to avoid plant disruptions. Follow all safety protocols including personal protective equipment as required, lockout/tagout, confined space procedures, and attend required safety meetings and training sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Career Progression:
This position has a career progression path. With successful training and skills assessment, automatic advancement to Utility Production Electrician II.

7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday
Minimum Qualifications
A job offer for this position is contingent on passing a physical examination to determine if the candidate possesses the physical capabilities necessary to perform the essential functions.
- High school degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is necessary.
- Five years of related work experience, with sufficient experience, including electrician apprenticeship or vocational training, to qualify as a journey electrician, is required.
- Experience and knowledge in the installation and maintenance of secondary power distribution and motor controls, is desired.
- Persons in this position are expected to participate in and complete the utility production’s electrician technical and practical training program.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams and applicable electrical codes is required.
- Skill in the use of tools, equipment and materials applicable to the trade is required.
- Ability on a daily basis to:
- Grasp, lift, carry and set down objects of up to 75 lbs.
- Climb and work from ladders and scaffolding.
- Work in a utility production environment containing dust, cold, heat, and humidity.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license which allows the legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri is required.
- Complete department safety training

Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
