Mammographer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a mammographer in Texas?
To become a mammographer in Texas, you need licensure from the Texas Medical Board as a radiologic technologist and ARRT certification in both radiography and mammography. The typical path is completing an accredited radiologic technology program, passing the ARRT radiography exam, then pursuing the ARRT mammography post-primary certification after gaining clinical hours. Texas requires the state license before practicing, so ARRT certification alone is not sufficient to work in the state.
How much do mammographers make in Texas?
Mammographers in Texas earn a median of about $78,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,550 for the lowest 10% to over $102,630 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire mammographers in Texas?
Employers hiring mammographers in Texas right now include Baylor Scott & White Health, CHRISTUS Health, and Houston Methodist, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and regional imaging networks account for most consistent volume, with openings distributed across both major urban campuses and suburban outpatient locations.
Which Texas cities have the most mammographer jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Grapevine lead Texas for mammographer openings, reflecting the concentration of major hospital systems and dedicated breast imaging centers in those metro areas. Houston drives the largest share given the density of academic medical centers and large health systems headquartered there, while Dallas and other metros reflect both established employer campuses and growing suburban outpatient clinic networks.
Are there remote mammographer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of mammographer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, since the core work requires direct patient contact and hands-on equipment operation. The small remote-eligible share tends to involve quality assurance review, teleradiology support coordination, or administrative roles attached to mammography programs rather than direct imaging duties.
How can I get hired as a mammographer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a general radiologic technologist role at a large Texas hospital system such as Baylor Scott & White Health or UTHealth Houston and cross-training into mammography once hired. Many Texas health systems offer structured mammography orientation programs for technologists who hold their ARRT radiography credential but lack dedicated breast imaging hours. Completing even a short mammography clinical rotation during your accredited program and mentioning it on your application gives candidates a measurable edge in a competitive entry market.
Where can I find and apply to mammographer jobs in Texas?
