Clinical Assistant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical assistant in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license for clinical assistants, but most employers require completion of an accredited medical assistant program and a nationally recognized credential such as the CMA through the American Association of Medical Assistants or the RMA through American Medical Technologists. Programs are available at community colleges and vocational schools across Texas. Earning a credential before applying significantly improves your chances with major health systems.
Which companies hire clinical assistants in Texas?
Employers hiring clinical assistants in Texas right now include Houston Methodist, CHRISTUS Health, and Baylor Scott & White Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and multispecialty group practices consistently post the highest volume of clinical assistant openings in the state.
Which Texas cities have the most clinical assistant jobs?
Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas have the most clinical assistant openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas drive the highest volumes due to their concentration of major hospital systems and large multispecialty clinic networks, while San Antonio's substantial military healthcare infrastructure and growing civilian health sector contribute steady demand throughout the year.
Are there remote clinical assistant jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinical assistant work is largely hands-on and requires in-person patient contact, so most openings are on-site. About 1% of clinical assistant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be in care coordination, prior authorization support, or telehealth assistance rather than direct clinical duties.
How can I get hired as a clinical assistant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-grad or externship programs offered by large Texas health systems such as Texas Health Resources and UT Health, which regularly bring in candidates directly from accredited medical assistant programs. Starting in a patient service representative or medical receptionist role at a clinic and moving laterally is another common route. Earning your CMA or RMA credential before applying gives you a clear edge over uncredentialed applicants.
Where can I find and apply to clinical assistant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to clinical assistant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty interest and apply directly to the ones that match.
