Phlebotomist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a phlebotomist in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued phlebotomy license, but most employers expect a recognized national certification such as the Certified Phlebotomy Technician credential from the National Healthcareer Association or the equivalent from the American Society for Clinical Pathology. The typical path is completing an accredited phlebotomy training program, which community colleges across Texas offer, then passing a certification exam. Hospitals and large laboratory networks in Texas routinely make certification a condition of hire.
How much do phlebotomists make in Texas?
Phlebotomists in Texas earn a median of about $40,450 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $32,570 for the lowest 10% to over $53,560 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire phlebotomists in Texas?
Employers hiring phlebotomists in Texas right now include Quest Diagnostics, Labcorp, and CHRISTUS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's scale of major hospital systems, independent diagnostic labs, and blood banking organizations means openings appear regularly across both large urban centers and suburban communities throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most phlebotomist jobs?
San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi are the Texas cities with the most phlebotomist openings, reflecting the concentration of large hospital systems, regional reference laboratories, and high-volume outpatient facilities in those metro areas. Smaller cities with major medical centers or large dialysis and specialty clinic networks often appear in the list as well, driven by anchor employers rather than overall city size.
Are there remote phlebotomist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Phlebotomy is inherently a hands-on, patient-facing role, so the vast majority of positions require on-site presence. About 0% of phlebotomist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be training coordinator, quality assurance, or phlebotomy instruction roles rather than direct draw positions.
How can I get hired as a phlebotomist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a short accredited phlebotomy training program at a Texas community college, then applying directly to high-volume settings such as blood donation centers operated by Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center or Carter BloodCare, which regularly onboard newly certified technicians. Entry-level roles at outpatient draw stations or dialysis clinics also serve as common first positions. Candidates with a certified nursing assistant or medical assistant background often move into phlebotomy roles with minimal additional training, and holding a recognized national certification gives any applicant a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to phlebotomist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to phlebotomist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your certification level, preferred city, and work setting, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
