Care Coordinator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a care coordinator in Texas?
Most care coordinator roles in Texas require either a clinical license or a human services degree, depending on the employer. Registered nurses hold an active Texas Board of Nursing license, while social workers must hold a license issued by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners, typically an LMSW or LCSW. Many non-clinical coordinator roles accept a bachelor's in health administration or a related field, and a case management certification such as a CCM strengthens any application.
Which companies hire care coordinators in Texas?
Employers hiring care coordinators in Texas right now include Optum, Rehab Employee Services, and Baylor Scott & White Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large managed care and Medicaid market means health plans and integrated delivery networks are among the most consistent sources of open roles.
Which Texas cities have the most care coordinator jobs?
San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas have the most care coordinator openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its size and the concentration of large health systems and managed care plans headquartered there, while Dallas and San Antonio support high volumes through both major hospital systems and the substantial Medicaid managed care organizations that contract with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
Are there remote care coordinator jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely administrative fields because many care coordinator roles involve hands-on patient contact or on-site care team meetings. About 4% of care coordinator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting growing employer flexibility. The functions most likely to be fully remote are utilization review, prior authorization coordination, and telephonic disease management.
How can I get hired as a care coordinator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a clinical support or medical administrative role, such as a patient navigator, medical assistant, or discharge planning aide. Large Texas health systems including Baylor Scott & White Health and Texas Children's Hospital run new-grad nurse residencies and case management rotations that build the coordination skills employers want. Earning a Certified Case Manager credential or completing a community health worker training recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services also signals readiness to hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to care coordinator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to care coordinator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that match.
