Registered Behavior Technician Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registered behavior technician in Texas?
To become a registered behavior technician in Texas, you must complete a high school diploma or equivalent, finish at least 40 hours of RBT training based on the BACB Task List, pass a competency assessment conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and pass the RBT exam administered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Texas does not issue a separate state license for RBTs, so the national BACB credential is the recognized standard employers require.
How much do registered behavior technicians make in Texas?
Registered behavior technicians in Texas earn a median of about $39,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,240 for the lowest 10% to over $49,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire registered behavior technicians in Texas?
Employers hiring registered behavior technicians in Texas right now include H2 Health, Maxim Healthcare, and BlueSprig, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large network of ABA therapy clinics, school districts, and home health agencies keeps demand for RBTs consistent across the state throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most registered behavior technician jobs?
Austin, Salado, and Harker Heights have the most registered behavior technician openings in Texas. The distribution follows population density and the concentration of ABA providers, children's hospitals, and public school districts in major metros, with suburban and surrounding areas also posting regularly as providers expand outreach into communities surrounding each major city.
Are there remote registered behavior technician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. RBT work is inherently hands-on, requiring direct in-person behavioral intervention with clients, so most positions are on-site in homes, clinics, or schools. About 0% of registered behavior technician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those roles typically involve telehealth parent training or caregiver coaching rather than direct client sessions.
How can I get hired as a registered behavior technician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to ABA clinics and home therapy providers that offer on-the-job RBT training as part of hiring, since many Texas employers such as Behavioral Framework and regional autism service centers bring in candidates who have not yet completed their competency assessment and supervise them through certification. Lateral moves from paraprofessional, behavioral aide, or special education assistant roles in Texas school districts are also a strong entry point. Completing the BACB's 40-hour RBT training before applying gives candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to registered behavior technician jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to registered behavior technician jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience, location, and availability, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
