Registered Behavior Technician Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registered behavior technician in New York?
New York does not issue a separate state license for registered behavior technicians, so the credential that qualifies you to work is the RBT certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. To earn it you complete a required number of training hours in ABA, pass a competency assessment, and pass the RBT exam. Most New York employers, including school districts and clinic-based providers, require an active RBT credential and a background clearance before hiring.
Which companies hire registered behavior technicians in New York?
New York registered behavior technician roles are posted by Proud Moments, Dragonfly Cares, and Achievement Behavior Services and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's density of autism specialty clinics, charter school networks, and home health agencies means hiring is active year-round across the state.
Which New York cities have the most registered behavior technician jobs?
Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens consistently show the most registered behavior technician openings in New York. New York City drives the largest share because of its concentration of ABA clinics, public school special education programs, and nonprofit providers, while suburban areas like Long Island and Westchester County see strong demand from home-based and school-district employers anchored in those communities.
Are there remote registered behavior technician jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Registered behavior technician work is inherently hands-on, requiring direct in-person interaction with clients to implement ABA programs. About 0% of registered behavior technician openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth parent coaching or data review rather than direct client sessions.
How can I get hired as a registered behavior technician in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for an RBT trainee or behavioral health technician role at a clinic or school district that provides supervised on-the-job training while you complete your certification hours. Large New York providers such as YAI and New York City Department of Education run structured programs for new hires without prior ABA experience. Candidates coming from roles such as paraprofessional, direct support professional, or childcare worker have the strongest footing, and completing your RBT certification before applying gives you a meaningful edge.
Where can I find and apply to registered behavior technician jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to registered behavior technician jobs in New York directly on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, Long Island, and the rest of the state. Search the listings, identify the roles that fit your credentials and availability, and apply to them directly through each posting.
