Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dermatology nurse practitioner in New York?
You must hold an active New York State Nurse Practitioner license, issued by the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions after completing an accredited graduate nursing program and passing a national certification exam through ANCC or AANP. Once licensed, most New York employers expect you to complete a dermatology-focused training period or fellowship, since there is no standalone dermatology NP certification. Building clinical hours in a dermatology setting is the critical next step after licensure.
How much do dermatology nurse practitioners make in New York?
Dermatology nurse practitioners in New York earn a median of about $153,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $112,730 for the lowest 10% to over $198,060 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire dermatology nurse practitioners in New York?
Employers hiring dermatology nurse practitioners in New York right now include Integrated Dermatology and Essen Health Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of academic medical centers, large multispecialty groups, and standalone cosmetic dermatology practices means openings appear across a wide range of employer types throughout the state.
Which New York cities have the most dermatology nurse practitioner jobs?
Buffalo, Glens Falls, and Latham consistently post the most dermatology nurse practitioner openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its concentration of academic health systems, private dermatology groups, and cosmetic clinics, while suburban markets like Long Island and Westchester are driven by large health networks such as Northwell Health expanding their outpatient dermatology footprint beyond the city.
Are there remote dermatology nurse practitioner jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Dermatology is a hands-on clinical specialty requiring in-person skin examinations and procedures, so most roles are fully on-site. About 0% of dermatology nurse practitioner openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve teledermatology consultations or administrative clinical review rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a dermatology nurse practitioner in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate NP roles within large New York health systems that offer structured onboarding in dermatology, such as Northwell Health or NYU Langone, which periodically recruit new NPs into their outpatient dermatology departments. Candidates moving laterally from medical-surgical, primary care, or oncology nursing backgrounds are competitive because of their wound care or skin assessment skills. Completing a dermatology-focused clinical rotation during your NP program and obtaining AANP or ANCC certification strengthens your application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to dermatology nurse practitioner jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to dermatology nurse practitioner jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings from practices, health systems, and dermatology groups across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to each employer through the listings.
