Nursing Technician Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nursing technician in Texas?
You become a nursing technician in Texas by completing a state-approved nursing assistant training program and passing the Texas Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation, which registers you with the Texas Nurse Aide Registry, maintained by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Many community colleges and hospital systems across Texas offer these programs. Some employers also hire nursing students who have completed their first clinical rotation and allow them to work under a structured nursing technician title while finishing their degree.
Which companies hire nursing technicians in Texas?
Employers hiring nursing technicians in Texas right now include University Health, DaVita, and Fresenius Medical Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas has a large concentration of major health systems, including several with dozens of campuses, so openings are consistent throughout the year rather than seasonal.
Which Texas cities have the most nursing technician jobs?
San Antonio, Selma, and Houston have the most nursing technician openings in Texas. Houston drives the highest volume due to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, while Dallas and San Antonio support large populations of regional health system campuses that staff nursing technician roles across inpatient, outpatient, and rehabilitation settings.
Are there remote nursing technician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Nursing technician work is fundamentally hands-on and requires direct patient contact, so remote opportunities are limited by the nature of the role. About 0% of nursing technician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve care coordination, patient monitoring support, or administrative clinical functions rather than bedside duties.
How can I get hired as a nursing technician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a Texas-approved CNA training program, which many community colleges such as Houston Community College and Dallas College offer, and then applying directly to hospital systems that run new employee orientation tracks for entry-level clinical support staff. Large Texas systems including Baylor Scott & White Health and University Health in San Antonio hire nursing technicians without prior hospital experience and provide structured onboarding. Lateral moves from roles like patient care technician, emergency room technician, or medical assistant are common ways candidates step into nursing technician positions with transferable skills.
Where can I find and apply to nursing technician jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to nursing technician jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across hospital systems, surgical centers, and long-term care facilities. Find the roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly to the employers posting them.
