OB/GYN Physician Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ob/gyn physician in Texas?
To practice as an ob/gyn physician in Texas, you must obtain a Texas Medical License through the Texas Medical Board, which requires graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of an ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency, and passing the USMLE or COMLEX sequence. Board certification through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology strengthens your application with Texas employers considerably. Fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine or gynecologic oncology opens additional opportunities at academic centers.
How much do OB/GYN physicians make in Texas?
OB/GYN physicians in Texas earn a median of about $271,960 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $73,450 for the lowest 10% to over $425,630 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ob/gyn physicians in Texas?
Employers hiring ob/gyn physicians in Texas right now include Baylor Scott & White Health, Houston Methodist, and Baylor College of Medicine, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and academic medical centers account for the bulk of consistent openings, particularly in high-volume urban markets serving diverse and rapidly expanding patient populations.
Which Texas cities have the most ob/gyn physician jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Temple consistently post the most ob/gyn physician openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its concentration of major health systems and academic medical centers including UTHealth and Memorial Hermann, while Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio reflect both large employed-physician group practices and the fastest-growing suburban patient populations in the state driving sustained obstetric demand.
Are there remote ob/gyn physician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. OB/GYN is a procedural and hands-on specialty that requires direct patient care, so the vast majority of roles are entirely on-site. About 0% of ob/gyn physician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth gynecology consultations or administrative medical director functions rather than full clinical practice.
How can I get hired as a ob/gyn physician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to large Texas health systems that onboard new attendings directly from residency, including Baylor Scott & White Health and UTHealth Houston, both of which have structured new-physician onboarding programs. Completing a fellowship at a Texas academic center builds relationships that frequently convert to staff offers. Candidates without independent practice experience should target employed-physician group models over private practice, as those settings provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and a built-in patient panel from day one.
Where can I find and apply to ob/gyn physician jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to ob/gyn physician jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings, find roles that match your training and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
