JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
About the Unit:
- 14 bed full service, fast paced Surgical ICU
- Caring for critically ill patients requiring advanced postoperative management or invasive monitoring following complex procedures or acute surgical emergencies
- Patient to Nurse ratio 2:1
- Proficiency training for specialty equipment
- Experienced charge nurses and unit leadership
- Offering new to specialty orientation for experienced nurses with progressive care backgrounds
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver high quality, patient-centered care.
- Reflects core values when interacting with co-workers, patients, family members, and others in the community to foster an environment where employees are engaged and where patient care is unparalleled.
- Leads in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization.
- Represents the organization positively within the community; participates in company-supported community/patient events and in-services.
- Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines. Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
- Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
- Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
- Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues, and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program required
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse required
- 2-5 years of ICU experience as a licensed Registered Nurse highly preferred
- Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License required (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required
