Summary
Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of the ongoing competency of clinical staff.

Must have minimum of 3 years of experience in Pediatric CVICU.
Responsibilities
- Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Participates in research activities, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Supports an environment that promotes evidence based nursing practice based on nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
- Serves as a consultant/mentor/change agent for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
- Plans, updates, and evaluates clinical competencies to assess quality of patient care delivered and ensure regulatory compliance on assigned unit(s).
- Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of all education activities on assigned unit(s).
- Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions.
- May perform clinical patient care when needed.
- Manages the onboarding and orientation of all new employees and students on assigned unit(s).
- Collaborates with nursing leaders and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.

Additional Job Information
Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Work Experience: Three (3) years nursing experience. Candidates for Clinical Nurse Educator RN Fellowship positions may apply after completion of two (2) years' nursing experience.
Other Information: Department Specific: JDC- Hematology/Oncology: APHON Provider and PALS required.
