OB/GYN Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ob/gyn in Texas?
To practice as an ob/gyn in Texas, you must earn an MD or DO degree, complete a four-year ACGME-accredited ob/gyn residency, and obtain a license from the Texas Medical Board, which requires passing USMLE or COMLEX exams and a background review. Most Texas hospital systems and group practices also require ABOG board certification or documented board eligibility within a set period of hire.
How much do OB/GYNs make in Texas?
OB/GYNs in Texas earn a median of about $271,960 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $73,450 for the lowest 10% to over $425,630 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ob/gyns in Texas?
Employers hiring ob/gyns in Texas right now include Houston Methodist, Baylor Scott & White Health, and Optum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and academic medical centers account for a significant share of ongoing openings, particularly in high-volume urban markets.
Which Texas cities have the most ob/gyn jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Temple consistently post the highest concentration of ob/gyn openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its density of academic medical centers and Level III and IV maternal care facilities, while Dallas and San Antonio generate strong demand through large regional hospital networks and rapidly growing suburban populations that need expanded women's health services.
Are there remote ob/gyn jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 3% of ob/gyn openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how hands-on the specialty is by nature. The roles most likely to offer remote or partially remote arrangements are telemedicine consultations, contraceptive counseling, and administrative or medical director positions that carry a clinical oversight component.
How can I get hired as a ob/gyn in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic path for a candidate without post-residency experience is applying directly to new-graduate or first-attending openings at Texas's academic medical centers and large employed-physician group practices, which regularly onboard recent ACGME completers. UT Health, Baylor Scott and White, and Christus Health all maintain structured onboarding tracks for early-career ob/gyns. Completing your ABOG written qualifying exam before your job search and holding an unrestricted Texas Medical Board license removes the two most common hiring barriers for candidates without a prior attending record.
Where can I find and apply to ob/gyn jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to ob/gyn jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and preferred location, and apply directly through each listing.
