OB/GYN Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ob/gyn in Michigan?
To practice as an ob/gyn in Michigan, you must hold an active license issued by the Michigan Board of Medicine, which is part of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. The path requires completing medical school, finishing an ACGME-accredited four-year ob/gyn residency, passing all three USMLE steps, and applying for a full Michigan medical license. Board certification through ABOG, while not always legally required, is expected by most Michigan hospital employers and health systems.
How much do OB/GYNs make in Michigan?
OB/GYNs in Michigan earn a median of about $209,650 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $127,190 for the lowest 10% to over $422,390 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ob/gyns in Michigan?
Employers hiring ob/gyns in Michigan right now include Henry Ford Health, Corewell Health, and 77 Consultants, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Michigan's large integrated health systems and academic medical centers drive the bulk of consistent ob/gyn hiring, particularly for physicians seeking both clinical and teaching opportunities.
Which Michigan cities have the most ob/gyn jobs?
Wyandotte, Saginaw, and Escanaba account for the most ob/gyn openings in Michigan. Detroit leads because of its concentration of major hospital systems and academic centers, Grand Rapids supports strong demand through a growing regional health corridor anchored by large systems, and Ann Arbor draws heavily due to Michigan Medicine's academic medical complex and affiliated specialty clinics.
Are there remote ob/gyn jobs in Michigan?
Yes, but they're rare. Ob/gyn is a hands-on clinical specialty requiring direct patient care, surgical procedures, and labor and delivery coverage, so nearly all roles are on-site. About 25% of ob/gyn openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be limited to administrative, telemedicine triage, or utilization review roles within larger health systems.
How can I get hired as a ob/gyn in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is completing your ob/gyn residency and applying to new-attending or first-year hospitalist positions at Michigan health systems that regularly onboard residents, including large Detroit-area networks and Michigan Medicine affiliates. Programs like locum tenens contracts through regional Michigan hospitals offer supervised early-career experience, and many systems have structured new physician onboarding tracks. Having ABOG board eligibility, an active Michigan medical license, and documented competency in minimally invasive procedures strengthens any new-graduate application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to ob/gyn jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to ob/gyn jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings from hospitals, health systems, and specialty practices. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your specialty and preferred location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
