Clinical Supervisor Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical supervisor in Michigan?
Becoming a clinical supervisor in Michigan starts with earning a master's degree in social work, counseling, or a related field and obtaining full licensure through the Michigan Board of Counseling or the Michigan Board of Social Work, depending on your discipline. Most Michigan employers additionally require candidates to hold a supervisor-specific endorsement or a designated number of post-licensure clinical hours before stepping into a supervisory role. Some disciplines require a Approved Clinical Supervisor credential recognized by Michigan employers.
Which companies hire clinical supervisors in Michigan?
Employers hiring clinical supervisors in Michigan right now include Bronson Healthcare, Trinity Health, and Corewell Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Michigan's dense network of Federally Qualified Health Centers, community mental health authorities, and large integrated health systems means consistent openings for supervisors across both urban and rural service areas.
Which Michigan cities have the most clinical supervisor jobs?
Kalamazoo, Detroit, and Saginaw have the most clinical supervisor openings in Michigan as of August 2026. Detroit leads because of its concentration of hospital systems, community mental health authorities, and substance use disorder programs, while Grand Rapids and Lansing draw significant hiring through large regional health systems and state government-funded behavioral health agencies serving the surrounding counties.
Are there remote clinical supervisor jobs in Michigan?
Yes, but they're limited. Clinical supervision typically involves direct observation, case review, and face-to-face meetings with supervisees, which keeps most roles at least partially on-site. About 54% of clinical supervisor openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. The portions of the role most suited to remote work include telehealth documentation review, group supervision sessions conducted via video platform, and administrative oversight tasks.
How can I get hired as a clinical supervisor in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a lead clinician or senior therapist role first, then pursuing supervisory responsibilities within the same Michigan employer. Large community mental health organizations across Michigan, including county-operated CMH agencies, frequently promote from within and offer structured pathways for licensed clinicians to take on provisional supervisory duties. Obtaining your Approved Clinical Supervisor credential early and volunteering to co-supervise interns at Michigan university training clinics builds the portfolio most Michigan hiring managers want to see before making a formal supervisory appointment.
Where can I find and apply to clinical supervisor jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to clinical supervisor jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the available roles, find ones that match your license level, specialty, and preferred region of Michigan, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
