Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Specialist- School of Social Work

Essential functions (job duties):

The Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Specialist supports the Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training team in the implementation and ongoing delivery of the Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Program. This position plays a key role in supporting the statewide expansion of behavioral health crisis response training throughout Michigan, while also contributing to out-of-state training initiatives and partnerships.

Primary responsibilities include providing technical and programmatic support to participants to promote successful progression and completion of the training program, coordinating, and facilitating in-person Skills Days training across the state, and assisting with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of training activities. The Training Specialist will also collaborate with instructors, community partners, and subject matter experts to ensure high-quality training delivery and support additional team-based initiatives that advance the program's goals.

This position is housed within the Center for Behavioral Health and Justice and is a full-time (100% FTE) position that reports to the Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Manager.

Assist the Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of the Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Program. Responsibilities include identifying and coordinating Skills Day training locations, managing communication and logistics for Skills Day participants, instructors, and guest presenters, and serving as an instructor during Skills Day trainings across Michigan. Ensures that all training activities are delivered in compliance with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) requirements.

Assesses and evaluates the content and effectiveness of individual training modules and the overall Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Program. Recommends and implements approved enhancements or modifications to program content as directed to support continuous quality improvement. Contributes to the development of quarterly program reports by compiling, reviewing, and summarizing training data, participant outcomes, and other program metrics.

Supports the development and expansion of behavioral health crisis response education by collaborating on the design, implementation, and evaluation of new training programs, curricula, and learning opportunities. Works with subject matter experts and community partners to identify emerging training needs, develop instructional materials, pilot new initiatives, and integrate evidence-informed practices into future program offerings.

Collaborate with research assistant to monitor participant progress throughout the Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training Program and provide timely support to promote successful course completion. Assists with the coordination and facilitation of synchronous training sessions, including participant communication, technical support, attendance tracking, and other activities necessary to ensure an effective learning experience.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Master's degree

Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field of study.

Experience Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)

Clinical practice in crisis response required.

Training/Instructor experience preferred.

Must possess and maintain current licensure in the State of Michigan Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed. Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or State of Michigan Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW) or Limited Licensed. Professional Counselor (LLPC), with eligibility to obtain full LMSW or LPC licensure as required by the position.

Professional experience in academic institutions or a similar professional environment designing and managing training programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Excel and publisher mail merge features. Video editing and graphic design experience preferred. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues during live events.

Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively with established deadlines and pressure.

Communication Skills: Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage a variety of relationships with various stakeholders.

Interpersonal Skills: Abel to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Changes approach or method to best fit the situation and reacts well under pressure.

Financial Skills: Manage expenses and perform bookkeeping duties.

Professionalism: Must demonstrate and possess a high level of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality. Demonstrated expertise in collaborating with external partners, such as state agencies, community organizations, or other research institutions.
