Nursing Technician Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nursing technician in New York?
In New York, nursing technicians typically begin by completing a state-approved nurse aide training program and passing the New York State Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation to earn listing on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry, overseen by the New York State Department of Health. Most hospital-based positions also expect a high school diploma and current BLS certification. Some larger systems require additional on-the-job training or a clinical externship before independent patient care assignments.
Which companies hire nursing technicians in New York?
Employers hiring nursing technicians in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, Maimonides Medical Center, and DaVita, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense network of academic medical centers and large regional health systems means full-time and per-diem openings appear throughout the year across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Which New York cities have the most nursing technician jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and Mineola have the most nursing technician openings in New York. New York City leads because of its concentration of major academic medical centers and specialty hospitals, while Buffalo and Albany generate consistent demand through large regional health systems and VA medical facilities that anchor healthcare employment in their respective areas.
Are there remote nursing technician jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Nursing technician work is fundamentally hands-on and bedside, so the vast majority of positions require on-site presence. About 0% of nursing technician openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those few roles tend to involve patient monitoring, care coordination, or telehealth support rather than direct clinical duties.
How can I get hired as a nursing technician in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a New York State-approved nurse aide training program, earning your listing on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry, and applying to new-graduate or externship programs run by large systems like Northwell Health or NewYork-Presbyterian, which regularly hire candidates without prior hospital experience. Lateral moves from roles such as patient sitter, home health aide, or hospital unit secretary are common entry points. A current BLS certification strengthens any application significantly.
